Impressive structure suitable for a nice walk

The bridge starts close to the Alcazaba in the old town's centre. Beside being an impressive structure it also offers the opportunity for a nice walk, preferable in day light.

Lovely Roman bridge, worth the visit, close to the Alcazaba, but don't bother walking to the Moreria, which is further down the same street.

Amongst all the Roman sites in Merida this bridge is still in use! The longest Roman bridge anywhere (so I'm told) it is a sight to behold. Take time to view the whole length of it from off the bridge before walking it - better to appreciate its elegance and the quality of the engineering from about 2000 years ago.

As far as I know, Merida was the Capital of Roman Empire in that region, there are many Roman buildings and bridges, dams. I trully recomend a visit and don't forget to eat black pig or jamon as they call it.

The Roman bridge in Merida is the longest of its kind and you need to walk along it to get a proper sense of that. Highly recommend a visit here.

When you go to the Moorish fortress you will see the bridge right by it. It's really beautiful and worth a stroll on if you have time.

A pedestrianised bridge that is 800m long. It takes you straight into the old area of town and is an absolute must. Very picturesque and easy to walk.

This is a truly historic bridge, built in several sections over the centuries, with bits of it destroyed to stop invaders and then rebuilt after varius wars over the centuries, right up to the 1930's.

This is the longest Roman bridge in the world (740 m) and without a doubt, one of the best places to see in Mérida. Now it's a double edged sword: walking along it is great but it is a bridge that is beautiful to see (obviously you can't see this while being on it). However if you go up on... More

We travelled in Setember and the temperature was 35 degrees so we never managed to cross the long bridge. A spectacular intact bridge still used by those on foot.
