Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We chose 4 tapas dishes. More than enough, really high quality and great service. Young energetic staff who were attentive but not smothering, courteous and smiley. And the service was speedy. Highly recommend a lunchtime (well, 2.00pm) visit.

Due to its city center location do stop by for a quick look. Not too much to see other than the arch itself, most of the adornments have been lost.

After you have seen the basilica de Santa Eulalia, you are on the “Avenida de Extremadura” so when leaving the site, turn right and follow this avenue who will turn into “Almendralejo” and we will turn left in the fourth street, so you will arrive on the “Plaza de la Constitution”, and into the right corner you will see the “Arco Trajano”. Who has possibly being an entrance for the old town it is a Hugh construction and means for us the end of our visit to Mérida.
When you have your car in the underground car-park on the river bank near the “Lusitania Bridge”, then return on your steps end follow again downhill the “Almendralejo” who will bring you on the roundabout and from here it is a few steps until the car-park. We do hope that you had a nice visit in Mérida.

Quite impressive Roman arch and definitely beautifully preserved. This should be part of a walk including the Roman Ruins which are not far.

Another impressive monument you can just find out while walking around Mérida. The town is full of them and you’re never tired appreciating them.

As you wander around Merida checking out one roman site after another you might well stumble across this massive Arch. While it has no decoration, just the sheer size of it and the fact that it's stood there for two thousand years is obviously impressive. The explanatory boards, while in English, need a bit of a clean. Worth seeing though just to see the sheer confidence of the Romans even on this far frontier of empire.

The arch is something that you can easily miss as you wander round Merida as it ies in a perfectly normal little street. There is a useful information board nearby. Although it was thought to be an arch dedicated to Trajan, the thinking is now that it was part of an entrance to the nearby Temple of Diana. Whatever the truth of it, it is worth ticking off the list of Roman sites in Merida. A couple of nice little bars and cafes nearby too.

We were four friends visiting Merida and had dinner at Arco de Trajano based on recommendations. The pork we had was tender and tasty, but what about vegetables? The risotto we had tasted OK, but it was slushy, almost like a soup. For dessert - a fantastic cheesecake, a mojito sorbet which turned out to be a drink, and a chocolate fondant that actually was chocolate ice cream. Something must have been lost in translation.
We selected the white and red wine recommended by the restaurant. A great choise!
