Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The entrance is very narrow. I was actually feeling sort of claustrophobic to enter. But an old lady said "mata ke paas Jaa rahe ho..bachhe ki tarah hi Jana padega". We sat and entered. Inside there is space. Beautiful experience

This is one of the 12 jyorthir lingas, which are very sacred to Hindus. The Jyothir lingas, are spread out in India. Rameshwar, in Tamil Nadu, Sri Sailam, in Andhra Pradesh, Bheema Shankar, Triyambakeshwar, and Gruhaneshwar in Maharashtra, Omkareshwar and at Ujjain in Madhyapradesh, Somanath and Nageshwar in Gujarath, Vixhwanath in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, Kedarnath in Uttaranchal and one in Bihar.

I have visited 9 jyothir lingas. The one at somanath has been rebuilt several times after they being vandalised by invaders. The last time it was built at the instance of the great 'Sardar Patel', when he took a woe on the sea shore to rebuild it.

It presents a extraordinary site and is worth a visit to India and I visited in 1998.

It is situated on the arabian sea coast and the nearest rail head is Verawal. The nearest airport is Ahmedabad. While visiting Somnath one can also visit Junagadh, Gir housing the Asiatic Lion and Dieu.

This Place is a part of Ancient Indian History. It is believed that the Pandavas Worshiped in this Place while in exile, and to save them their Kul Goddess Mata Hingraj appeared.
Note: Not recommended for people with breathing problems.

Its old historic temple, where its said Panch pandav stayed for sometime while they were in exile. At a time they allow only 5-6 people to go inside the temple and once they come out other set of people can enter, as there is limited space in inside the temple and no ventilation. People with any breathing problem should avoid going inside.

The uniqueness comes from the fact that you have to walk inside a narrow area and be crouched quite a bit. Not a good idea for people that are of the bigger sizes or if you are claustrophobic. I am hard pressed to believe that there is any real history behind this GUFA. Its a pure belief system @work.

According to the Mahabharata, the pandavas spend time here during their Agyatvaas. The entrance is too narrow, can't imagine how they could have crawled in!

This is a good place to visit when in Somnath. A small cave with narrow entrance. The cave is quite narrow, difficult for old people with joint pain problem and fat people to get in. When in Somnath you must visit only the following place, The Somnath temple (New Complex), the Somnath temple (ahilyabai holkar), museum, light and sound show in the main temple complex , Bhalka tirth, Panch panḍav gufa and maybe geeta mandir. Places you can skip are all other temples. See there are too many small and not so big temples but all others can be avoided believe me you'll save a lot of time and effort. If you find this helpful please help others also by clicking Thank you👍.

This is located a few steps away from the Surya Temple near the Triveni Sangam.
It looks more like the entrance to a home.
I suspect all the stories have been been built in recent times as their is hardly anything reflecting antiquity.
There is a Shivling inside and a small opening to a so called cave.
The view is however very nice from the courtyard as it overlooks a lovely lake with the sea in the far background.
Unfortunately the entire area around Somnath is bereft of any character.
It seemed to me a town without a soul.
Can be a lovely area if Government and people were proactive.
We made the trip to Somanth and the are in July 2014. Over a year ago.
