Maa Bamleshwari Temple, Dongargarh, Bambleshwari Temple in Dongargarh is situated at the top of a 1600 feet high hill and is devoted to the Hindu goddess Maa Bambleshwari Devi. The temple has 2 separate segments; Badi Bambleshwari is the temple at the hilltop, where as Chhotti Bambleshwari is located a bit further away from the vicinity of the main temple. Bambleshwari Temple is steeped in ancient legends. It is widely believed that the actually temple was built during the reign of emperor Vikaramaditya, which dates back to 600 years ago. Conversely it is also believed that Raja Veersen, ruler of Dongargarh, in order to appease the Gods for his true successor, had built the temple 2200 years ago.

We visited the temple on 8th October at around 10.45 pm. The rope-way was supposed to be closed by then. I was not in a position to climb all those stairs and to top it all it was raining heavily. Visited here many times as we alwys reached here from gondia which is around 90 km from dongargarh but the trip is worth it because we used route through darekasa which is going from dense forest. This places is well seen from the Dongargarh train station,you can easily walk to temple,it takes around 15 mins. Entrance is free,we climbed 1000 steps to reach the temple,you can also take a cable car. Its is good temple in chhattisgarh to visit. Even the temple is small the rope car facility and the natural beauty impresses and refresh our mind. It is about 120 km form raipur and good place to visit with family for a day. Becareful while parking your own vehicle only in the parking space provided where it only 10 rupees... More
