    Fabulous bird of prey experience
Just returned from a fabulous morning at The Hawking Centre. I did the Big 4 experience with falconer Reece. It really was a terrific session, which included flying a vulture, a bald eagle, Chilean eagle & an eagle owl. Reece was an excellent host, friendly, informative & I learnt a great deal. So thrilling to have these magnificent birds so close & flying to your glove. Highly recommend. Thank you Reece for a great morning.

Fantastic experience in the presence of beautiful birds
I bought the full day experience for my wife’s birthday. We had a fantastic day with our expert , Reece , who was knowledgeable and passionate about his subject. The full day experience means you fly lots of birds that all have different traits and personalities, and you learn so much about them from Reece , who is very patient and understanding with the birds and us !!! Lunch at the manor was lovely and it’s quite nice to have an hours break to reflect on the mornings activities …,.all in all , a great experience

    Big Budgie Flying. :)
My husband brought himself and I a half day experience at christmas 2022, because of work schedules we couldnt book till September 2023, but it was certainly worth the wait. Our Falconer Reece met us and a small group of others, including a young child with her parents in hotel waiting area. Led us all down to where birds all live, the area was wonderfully kempt and avaries were all decent sized and clean.. After doing all the necessary paper work for healh and safety we were all given a falconer glove to wear. Big old things they are... Reece then proceeded to talk to all of us while getting out first beautiful bird for us to fly, weighing it to ensure it was healthy to fly then we all proceeded out to flying ground just outside the avairy walls. We had Five birds in total for the experience, 2 were flown around just outside avairy walls, 1 was flown around the old golf course, 1 in the garden, the 5th and biggest bird, a Bald Eagle was just sat on our hands one person at a time. Weather was very hot that day and Reece was making sure the birds were not going to suffer which is absolutely important to these magnificent birds, I would highly recommend anyone, young, old, small or big to go and try one of these experiences. So much better than watching then in a large cage at a zoo where you cannot interact with them. Thank you very much Reece for a fantastic experience. x

    Flying birds in the rain.
Had a fantastic day watching and flying birds in beautiful surroundings. Rained heavily all day but didn’t notice it after a while. Reece was a brilliant, knowledgeable and informative guide and the eagles, owls, vulture and hawks were just amazing. Thank you.

We had a wonderful afternoon with Reece flying a variety of fabulous birds. Reece is very friendly, professional and knowledgeable which made this experience a great success. It was fascinating finding out about individual birds natural behaviours and to see how well cared for they are.

Two of my friends and I booked a morning’s Falconry Experience and caught pretty good weather to do it. We were met by Harriett, who introduced all of the beautiful birds at the centre and took us all out to fly four of them in the field and gardens. Harriet was warm, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and her affection for the birds was very clear. As for the actual flying, it was amazing, the birds are incredible.

Had a fabulous afternoon (23 Oct 22)! Was collected from Eastwell Manor reception by Reece and the few other that were on a full day experience. Went through H&S and checked in. Straight into taking Xavier, the Bald Eagle, out for a bit of food and exercise. He’s a big lad! Reece gave us a wonderful amount of knowledge as we took turns in having Xavier land on our glove and feed. We flew a young Harris Hawk, training on the string, Eagle Owl who is incredibly nimble and silent for his size! Moët the Chilean Blue Falcon, who swooped and soared above our heads and Maggie, a 25 year old Vulture. Throughout the whole experience, Reece was very interactive. The birds are very well looked after, and in good condition. A fair bit of walking backwards and forwards with the birds in the grounds of the manor, but it’s a beautiful setting. Can’t think of one single negative. I’d definitely book this experience again.

Reece is great and such a lot of love and knowledge for all the birds. The birds are all beautiful and such characters. Amazing to see them flying so close, such a great day. We learnt so much. Thank you Reece.

A fantastic half day experience with Ryan, who was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and made our afternoon one to remember. We fly Darwin the barn owls, Eagle owls, Harris hawks, Maggie the vulture and some young birds that were being trained by Ryan. Holding the bald Eagle at the end was an experience, heavier than you think. The surroundings are fabulous and we would recommend anyone thinking about having an Falconery experience to book yours with The Hawking Centre at Eastwell Manor. Ryan and the team keep up the good work. Brilliant!!

I was gifted a whole day's falconry experience to include a spectator for my birthday by my mother. I have long had a passion for birds of prey and for me, this day could not have been more perfect and memorable. The location, Eastwell Manor, is absolutely stunning and the perfect backdrop for such an activity. We were greeted by our falconer for the day, the very personable and knowledgeable Ryan, who introduced our small group to the birds. Within a short space pf time, we learnt much about the variety of owl, eagle, hawk, vulture and falcon: all about their hunting habits, their life cycles and mating rituals. It was fascinating to hear about how owl's eyes work. Ryan was a mine of information and full of amusing anecdotes as we started flying the birds. He made sure that everyone was clear on how to handle the birds before we set off into the field and there was a logic to the order in which he introduced the experience of flying them, starting with the small, gentle, Snowy Owl.
Every bird was different as you would expect, and each was uniquely beautiful with it's own fine plumage and colours. Everyone within our group was enthralled by the swooping majesty of the eagle and surprised at it's weight as it alighted on gloved hand. We graduated up through the birds by size, flying the vulture, Maggy (strangely handsome), after a larger owl, and then on to spending time with the aforementioned eagle before lunch. What a beak! What talons! What enormous wings! And heavy after a few minutes!
Having worked up an appetite in the fresh air, the food was welcome and very good and we were ready for part two of the day where we went back out to fly the Harris Hawk (a nifty yet graceful flyer). You really got a sense of the bird's modus operandi from where they chose to perch in between flights and the way in which they made their swoops to the outstretched glove. The hawk, choosing trees and branches, the Chilean Blue Eagle (more like buzzard according to Ryan!) playing on the wind, barrel-rolling in the sky, awesomely agile in flight for such a large bird.
The European Eagle Owl was also a character, and very gorgeous with his tufty eyebrows and fine plumage but, they all were really. And when Ryan asked us at the very end of the day as we put away the last eagle, which was our favourite birds, everyone agreed that they were all amazing and wonderful.
We came away, moved and feeling very privileged to have been so up close and personal with the most mighty and majestic of creatures, in awe of the people who devote their entire lives to falconry and, personally, I have been inspired to learn and do more in the future. What a day! I cannot recommend it enough. The most golden of memories for me, that's for sure. A big thank you to Ryan for sharing so much with us.

This was bought as a Christmas present, a full day VIP experience with a spectator place.

Having arrived at Eastwell Manor, we were then greeted by Reece who was the personal falconer for the day. Reece was so knowledgeable and we really got to know him throughout the day. 7 birds of prey flown that day and even as spectator you are exposed to the birds at very close proximity (or further away if you feel nervous as a spectator). The birds are magnificent but clearly very cared for and weighed before a flight to ensure they were ready for flying. Clearly the birds welfare comes first as it should be.

At lunchtime we had lunch in one of the main bar areas of the manor and then Reece came and collected us for the afternoon session.

This was a fantastic experience thoroughly experienced by my wife and as a spectator it was well worth the additional fee.

Thank you to Reece and the hotel staff all who were top class.

We booked a full day with The Hawking Centre.
What a fantastic day if you love birds of pry.
Ryan was our Falconer & expert for the day.
We where greeted with a warm welcome & where offered tea, coffee or water. Before a tour of there facilities and a very informative talk on all there birds including the one we would fly later.
The day started with a briefing & strict do’s & don’t. The day is very hands on and you actually get to fly the birds yourself with guidance & support every step of the way from the falconer. We flew 3 birds in the morning slowly getting bigger & bigger.
Then after a tasty lunch the 4 big boys came out to fly including Xavier the bald eagle. The experience of having them recall to the glove was amazing. Which is all down to the hours & hours of training that has gone into these animals.
If you are into Birds of Pry this day is perfect for you it’s informative and you leave admiring how stunning these creature’s really are when you’ve spent the day up close.
In fact I loved it so much I would go back and do it all again if I could.

I booked the VIP full day bird of prey experience for my wife’s birthday because of her interest in birds. The day was fabulous. We were looked after by Ryan who was excellent. Ryan was incredibly knowledgeable, his passion for the birds was clear and we loved hearing about how he trains and looks after the birds. The birds are amazing, we were introduced to Darwin, the barn owl, Bailey the mackinder owl, Arthur the European eagle owl , Maggie the North African vulture, Xavier the bald eagle, Jaegar the Harris hawk and Moët the Chilean blue eagle. They were all fantastic. I just can’t speak highly enough about the day and Ryan - fantastic. Ryan asked if he could do anything to improve the experience - we both said no, it was that good. It was a day to remember and we highly recommend it.
