For those interested in temple architecture and art, the Trikuteshwara complex is a must visit. The richness and quality of the sculptures, the plan and the spaces is a marvel. One can spend a lot of hours here. This is from the Western Chalukyan era around 11th century CE. In fact, the architecture has its own name 'Gadag School of Architecture".
I did not have time to go to the other complexes of Lakkundi and Dambal which I regret and hope to make it up some other day.
Note: The entry to the complex is through a village and tourists may have to walk past women washing clothes, children running around and so on. So beware.

Gadag Trikuteswara Temple complex is worth visit if you are traveling near by.

The temple is about 2 km from old bus stand. The temple is one of the few maintained by ASI in the city. Three linga form the main deity (and hence Trikuteswara). Don't think pooja is performed here as the temple structure images are mutilated. However saw a deep lit in front of the God.

This temple tells us how proud our culture and heritage was. One can see the technology too, the updown shadow of the main gopura which reflects in a wall through a small hole. One must visit this place

The temple complex is partly maintained by ASI and partly by a trust. It has a lot of history, which the temple priests will be happy to explain if you ask.

This temple is at a walkable distance from the main road that goes to annigeri near to petrol bunk. This is one of the rare temples for Goddess Saraswathi and idol in the garbhagriha is in sitting posture with Veena and books in her hand. This complex had temples for Lord Shiva and Vishnu also. Even though the temple is looking nice from the far but all the carvings had been broken and incomplete if you go near and see. It is unfortunate for all Hindus that we could not protect our ancient treasure

The Trikuteshwara temple lies close to west side of the Bhishma lake. It's ancient chalukya shiva temple. What I found rare was there was a temple dedicated goddess Saraswati. The Saraswati temple is not used as the main idol is damaged but beside that is a newer Saraswati temple (with Savitri and Gayatri) which is still worshipped. The main temple has 3 lingas and is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
The whole temple has very intricate carvings but is now mostly damaged. To see the intricacy of the sculptures look at the middle of the temple where there is a narrow inlet which has preserved the sculptures to a large extent.
