Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nizamat Imambara is a Shia Muslim congregation hall (imambara) in Murshidabad, India. It was built in 1740 AD by Nawab Siraj ud-Daulah and rebuilt in 1847 by Nawab Mansur Ali Khan after it was destroyed by the fires of 1842 and 1846. It is frequently mentioned as the largest imambara in the world.
Nice place to visit especially in winter, stay for 2/3 days, explore nawab's history and take a "Tanga " ( horse cart) ride. Beautiful experience.

Other than the impression of hand and foot of Hassan and Hossain the monumnet is having no other collection of historical pieces. This is mainly viewed as it is adjacent to Hazarduari. But it become really interesting at the time of festival Id. The Imambara gets entirely new look decorated with small handicrafts.

This comes as kind of a package deal with the Hazarduari Palace, although we were not allowed to enter.

Can only be viewed from the outside, as entry is allowed during Muharram. It is huge, but lacks the architectural finesse of other Imambaras I have seen

Bara Imambara (Nizamat Imambara). The imambara is a congregation hall for Shia commemoration ceremonies, especially those associated with the remembrance of Muharram. It is situated just opposite the Hazarduari Palace. It was built in 1847 by Nawab Nazim Mansoor Ali Khan Feradun Jah, at the site of the old wooden imambara built earlier by Siraj-ud-daulah and damaged by fire. The present Imambara is 680 feet long. It is divided into three large quadrangles: the central quadrangle has the Madina Mosque and the Memberdalan; the eastern quadrangle has the Nowbat Khana; the western quadrangle has a two-storied mosque. The mosque complex is known to be the biggest in Bengal, and maybe even India. It is open only 1st to 10th Mohorrom Month. So other then this time you can see only the out-side of the Imambara.

Just opposite to Hazarduari Palace you will find another massive construction Imambara. Nabab Najim Mansur Ali constructed this Mosque in 1848. The reason is not known why public are not allowed to enter inside, except a few days of the year and are deprived of watching many attractions inside.

It is an immense structure. It is an evidence of the level of learning and education that the Nawabs had encouraged. However, myth has it that the structure that we currently see was not the one that Sirajuddaulah had built but was built by the British after the original structure was demolished.
Sadly, it is not open to the public. As far as I could gather, it is only open to the public during Moharan.

Luckily we were around the Muharram time and we found it open. Located just opposite to Hazarduari Palace and in the same complex. Hosts Mohammad's original footprints, an artificial cascade, Islamic religious curios and banners. The prayer halls are gigantic and well maintained.

Supposed to be the one of the biggest in Asia. Built by Feradunja and was a meeting and resting place for Imams and Moulvis. (The name Imambara means Imam's rest house). Just bang opposite to Hazarduari place and magnificent structure as built by the nawabs. Also, this place has the holy clay brought by Siraz from Medina.
Nowadays entry is only permitted during Muharram or any special occasion.
