Very interesting and well maintained fortress, well documented and quite different, since it was a prison mainly. The orgel concert at midday is spectacular!!!

Perhaps chose the wrong time of year to visit, between Christmas and New Year! Was nice enough and a beautiful sight at sunset, but not enough going on inside to hold our interest for long.

Visited this historic fortress yesterday. The walk up is very steep but most use the funicular railway which is very unnerving for someone scared of heights like me. Look up during the ascent and descent and you'll feel better. The fortress itself is ancient and steeped in history. There is a quaint restaurant and spectacular views across the valley. Most... Well kept Fortress, some great exhibits from the different time periods and wars. If you have time pass by.

Very interesting but a little confusing to find your way around. We had children and a wheelchair. It was very difficult getting the wheel chair around and most places were not accessible which was very disappointing. Otherwise, the amount of ancient objects is amazing. The torture rooms fascinating and the organ was huge. Worth at least a morning or afternoon.... More

A must see when in the area. The Fortress is in top shape and each section has museum quality relevant displays (torture chamber, prison...). You can either hike up or take the 2 min gondola/sideways glass elevator. They had a Christmas market with various local items, including a must-try Tiroler Prügeltorte - delicious! They have a restaurant but we didn't... More

It is worth the time spent to know the history of this fortress. At the entrance of the fortress, they have a concert daily at 12 noon. Missed that concert but the arrangements that they have made seems to be very tempting to attend the show. If you are at Kufstein do not miss visiting this fortress.

The fortress is well maintained and easily accessible from town. Once there, be prepared for some steep walking. The views from the top of the fortress are very nice. The town below is a pleasant place to walk around for a while.
