The best time of year for this tour is when the waterfalls are in full flow! I ventured there in October and the waterfalls were a near trickle, the view are of course still beautiful and the sense of adventure and excitement is still there,...More

After our group reached Flam, we had some time to have a quick bite before boarding the ferry. But the weather changed suddenly and it started raining. However to our good luck, it stopped after a while but strong chilly winds continued to lash the...More

We arrived in Flam on a rainy day and happened to walk in the tourist information area/ticket booth and my fiance bought tickets to Gundvangen and back to Flam for the next day on a complete whim. We were in for such a treat! The...More

After overnighting in Flam we took the "new boat" for a cruise down the fjord and were well rewarded. The cruise has some of the most spectacular scenerey and is a great experience. Despite what guidebooks say - the new boat is absolutely wonderful and...More

This is the longest inhabited fjord in the world, and the views from the cruise boat are just fantastic. It was about a 2 hour trip, very cold in winter but really worth it. Dress warm and you would enjoy it very much. I would...More

When I booked this excursion online I did think it sounded expensive but what price nature in all her splendour? This fjord is an UNESCO World Heritage area and deservedly so, and as such is a definite must do in Norway. Started at Flåm on...More

This cruise is worth it because the fjord is so narrow and it gives an insight into how isolated some of the settlements are. Wear something warm because it can get very cold in the darker parts.

We did this cruise as a part of the Norway in a Nutshell Tour, the premium version. I definitely recommend the premium boat as you have the possibility to walk around the boat and capture all sceneries from various perspectives. Loved the premium boat (also...More

You can travel from either direction, but a vehicle is not possible to take on the boat. Wherever you start from, you can take a bus back to the starting town (20 minute bus ride).

You will need to book your travel in stages. They are long journeys. We did the Oslo-Bergen trip in one day and it took the best part of 10 hours (but we did the Fjord cruise as well). Not sure I can answer your question.
