Great first horse riding experience
Dec 2020 • Family
I went horse riding here with my 9 year old son and the instructors were fantastic. My son was very nervous and didn’t want to do it at the last minute but the instructors were very patient and eventually persuaded him to get on with the instructor’s horse attached by a rope. A few minutes later my son relaxed and loved it. We only booked a 1 hour trek since I wasn’t sure how it would go but my son had a wonderful time and we could have rode for longer (although it was good length for a kid on the first time ). We went on Christmas Eve and they put a reindeer decoration on the horse for my son. The whole experience was great and if our holiday was longer we would have booked another ride. We just booked by ringing up that morning and drove ourselves there but they can pick you up /drop you off if needed.

Amazing
Dec 2020 • Couples
What can I say, the Finnish lady who took us was such a great chat and the horses were amazing. We booked two hours from 4-6 and boy they did not miss. What great value for money, can’t fault them. The horse was a bit lazy but that is no ones fault, they gave me a whip and taught me how to get titanic moving and it worked out fine he has a sweet soul. My wife sat on Cumbre and had no issues. Don’t expect beach ride this is mountain terrain with rocks but the riding experience and confidence you get in the end is amazing. Not to mention the views! This activity alone has made us make plans to come back next December already! And if you love the gram the shots you get while in the horses ain’t bad too! I hope tourism picks up and Jose and the whole team have a full stable of 30 horses again!

To top it all off a lot of them are rescued and retrained horses Thankyou for making our honeymoon!

We will be back!

INCREDIBLE PLACE!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Jul 2019 • Couples
My boyfriend and I decided to go for a trek with El salobre while on holiday as I saw an advert online. My boyfriend had never been on a horse before while I have been riding for over 18 years.

The yard itself is impeccable and the horses are some of the best looked after at a riding school I have ever seen. Not even any dust on their coats and all well fed, sparkling eyes and good sound feet.

My boyfriend was given carpaccio to ride, a lovely cob type who was so laid back and really looked after him for the whole trek. I was given trueno a stunning athletic boy who was incredible to ride and gallop! I have ridden horses all over the world and worked at a trekking centre myself and I have to say, trueno was a brilliant experience I will never forget! From my impressions all of the horses on our trek were completely bomb proof and very well mannered.

The trek is an excellent way to relax and see the gorgeous scenery of maspalomas. When the more experienced riders were able to break off from the ride and go for a gallop it was an incredible adrenaline rush! The horses knew exactly where to go and were also having a brilliant time.

The whole experience was incredible and myself and my partner still tell everyone how brilliant our trek at El Salobre was. We are planning to come back to Gran Canaria as soon as this quarantine is over and cannot wait to come back to El salobre! 💕

Beautiful and stunning horses
Mar 2020 • Friends
Had a wonderful 2 hour trek on the mountain trails. Was doubtful at first about the trek but we were explained by the lovely guide Eli that the terrain was absolutely fine for the horses to walk on. She even explained that they have several rescue horses with previous leg injuries and by trekking the hills they are now fully recovered!

The views are stunning , lots of wild cactuses along the way and the sea in the distance. We even managed to catch the sunset over the sea on our way back to the stables which made the excursion magical.

All the horses were very tame , well fed and with shiny coats! So very pleased on how well these horses are treated!

Overall a very pleasant experience, a great way to connect with nature and a wonderful day out. For advance rider and non advance riders, like myself and my other half! Will definitely be back next year!!

Thank you El Salobre Team!

Unsafe. It's only ok if you have NO IDEA about horse riding
Feb 2020
FIRST IMPRESSION: DISORGANIZATION
No previous information at all on what to wear, with several clients coming in shorts. We were asked for 49 euros even when we paid in advance ... All that in front of my husband, revealing the value of the birthday present I was giving him. Not very elegant.

SECOND IMPRESSION: LOW QUALITY
The horse, "Carpaccio", was obviously exhausted, the saddle was age-old and of the lowest standard quality available, uncomfortable and, as the assistant herself pointed out, difficult to set in a stable way.

THE RIDE: UNSAFE
Terrain around is very rocky so the ride itself is rather rough both for the rider and the horse. In the very moment Carpaccio started to jog, one of the horseshoes fell to the ground, so no more jogging on hard soil. Few minutes later, the badly adjusted saddle slided to one side. And yes, my husband FELL TO THE GROUND. He was lucky enough not to get injured. He is an experienced rider, so I don't know what could have happened otherwise.

THE END: NOT EVEN SORRY
We weren't offered the slightest excuse on that, but overpriced unprofessional pictures as souvenirs of the experience. Sure! Bye Felicia!

Amazing Horsebackriding
Feb 2020 • Friends
We took the private two hours tour for two people, it was super nice. Very nice horses, nice surroundings and several opportunities for canter during the tour.
The horses are very well looked after, clean boxes. Lots of cute dogs on the ranch. And a mini shetland pony who thinks its a part of the dog pack. <3
Go here! You Will not regret it!

Great horseride
Nice horseride in dust and stone - very different from home trails. Hope the terrain is ok for the horses - guess so.

Visavis was a great companion for an unexperienced rider. Trying trotting I guess he figured that the sack of potatoes on his back was not quite ready for that and made his own decision to ease it a bit.

Alive animals on volcanic island
After 2017, this was my second visit to the farm.

Pick up from the hotel worked well. The driver only spoke Spanish, but was friendly.
Check in at the farm was no problem either.

Guides took the time to talk to the riders and find out their abilities/interests and were looking for matching horses.

Two hours on the country side, which of course is very stony/rocky/hilly, being in the mountains of a volcanic island. Horses luckily knew their way around.

We mainly walked, but were offered one passage of trotting and two of galloping where possible (abilities in horse and rider, and underground).
A short break for water (much needed in the dusty surroundings) was offered, too.

Horses are alive animals with their own minds. It does happen that they have a bad day or simply don't like another horse. Just like us humans ... ;-)

If you are looking for an hour of perfectly choreographed dressage in a riding hall, you're wrong. If you are looking for a romantic stroll at the beach, you're wrong.
If you are happy with what they offer, you'll have a good time AND help to finance the horses' care (expensive hey from the mainland, regular visits by a vet, etc.).

Will be back, if even on Gran Canaria again.

Great experience around GC
I had a beautiful riding.
It was my first time in the island and I really enjoyed the views over the mountains and a really nice team who take care of me and my horse.
My horse was called Visavis, excellent for beginner rider and non beginner.

Really clean environment and a lovely bar to take a break and a drink.

Lack of hygiene and very difficult terrain
Dec 2019
We went horse riding to El Salobre, and unfortunately, we have horrible impressions. The helmets we got were very dirty and stinky. When we spoke to the staff, they began to be rude to us. Later on the route, we also heard mean comments about the lack of skills - we pointed out that we are at the beginner level. It was not a pleasant experience. Not recommend.
