Sandy beaches but many steps to get to them. Although the German Bath and sun bathe naked it's worth walking over the sand dunes, take plenty of water as it's extremely hot. At the other end the beaches are split by rocky groins to break the waves but its very safe for kids and poor swimmers like me.take your litter with you as there are bins at the steps and water to clean the sand from your feet. A few eaterys on the beach but many places at the top. Sat and wed market well sign posted but be warned pickpockets are around and if the have no prices on products haggle hard cos a 45 euro leather wallet came rapidly down to 20. Local bus to Morgan was very simple and so was the aquarium, pay cash or by card we used a revelute card aquarium was about 12 euros for 2 each way and Morgan was about 4 euros each. Its a long way to the view point so do it slowly and early and again warning of pickpockets. If you like dancing it's free at the kasbah shopping centre in the evening. Lots of other activities available Inc go cart racing, the buggies are mostly on winding roads with only a tiny section off road but still great fun. The downfall is they tout for tips at the end ,and I think it's wrong if you need more money ,charge more. Great hotel so we are considering going back for longer.

    Island "Dessert" Experience!
A very unique experience to walk over these sand dunes to the sea, making use of the well-marked pathways (distances markers included). This experience can be undertaken after walking or swimming at the beach or vice-versa after a walk toward the sea across the dunes. There is also a wonderful pathway along the top to view the whole "dessert" scene in all its glory. The latter option is ideal for the more physically challenged as walking the dunes needs considerable determination and not a little strength. I personally walked along this paved pathway to the Riu Palace Maspalomas Hotel where there is a small viewpoint with excellent indicators of the pathways available and the distances involved in taking each. The very adventurous head to the lighthouse!

    Hot days at the beach
Was on holiday with my partner May 2023 and came the beach a couple of times. Beautiful beach with some clothing optional areas little bars/cafes here and there. Surrounding sand dunes are something else. Can be a little rocky in places

    Kiosk 7 beach
The gay beach is now one kiosk #5 further along with rainbow 🌈 flags a few hundred yards along.you can’t miss it Kiosk 7 was busy & frequented with mainly middle aged& older couples/solo mostly all nude. Sunbed+ parasol E7.50 card only. Kiosk has snacks/ice creams/ drinks/bar area with chairs and parasols plus toilets. There’s a big LOVE sign on the beach If coming from Maspalomas lighthouse end of beach 10-15 mins walk, easier to walk along the shoreline than through the Dunes. Sand gets very hot. Take only your sandals/beach shoes to the sea when going for a swim in the sea. Naked swimmers and clothed people walkers all on shoreline, no issues. Some couples left their sunbeds & bags for a bit to head into the Dunes behind kiosk for a nude afternoon stroll.

    Beautiful sand dunes, breathtaking views
The beach is absolutely beautiful, with miles of sand dunes and plenty to explore. There is a walk you can do from the Dunes to the light house following the nature reserve path, it is mainly sand though. Please take a drink with you as it gets very hot. Breathtaking views!

    Excellent sandy beach
Lovely sandy beach. Sea was lovely and warm. Wear swimshoes if going swimming as there are a few rocks before you get far out. Also the sand burns your feet so they are a must ! We walked to the sand dunes, nothing to see but sand really. People come around selling things whilst you are sunbathing, which is a nuisance. Paid 7.50 eur for 2 sunbeds and parasol, which was worth it, but when you have paid, you dont expect to be harassed by sellers. Also payment was by card only. Walked along the prom, past the lighthouse and visited a few shops. Lovely area, would definitely visit again, a lot nicer than Playa del Ingles

    Sand dunes wow!!
Visited from Mogan and came on the bus, really good as the bus station isn’t a far walk to the beach and sand dunes. We walked to the sand dunes - how wonderful those hot! Great water areas to wash your feet after and plenty of cafes etc to get a drink and food. A high end little area of shops near to the beach which also had a supermarket. Really lovely and upmarket area Maspalomas is! Really impressed and world visit again!

    Day at the beach ⛱️
Had a lovely day at this beach. Chose to do a shore excursion while on a cruise to the Canary islands. So glad I did. Lovely beach with good facilities. Nice restaurants that are reasonably priced. Will return one day.

    Fantastic location and fantastic weather
We are currently in Maspalomas in September week 1. Thought it worth updating and correcting some earlier reviews. The beach is huge with plenty of room for everyone and all persuasions. We enter from the Lighthouse end and find plenty of sunloungers for families and everyone wears a costume although a few ladies are topless. Further along the beach towards Playa del Ingles is cabin 8 with tables and chairs for customers to enjoy their drinks. Shortly afterwards is a Red Cross post and this seems to signify the clothing optional area. At cabin 7 there are a number of sun loungers and parasols frequented mainly by nudists, as is the beach around it. The loungers are good value at 7.50 euros for the day but payment is by credit card. Further along is Cabin 6 which flies a Pride flag so aimed at the gay community. No dogs were seen on the beach and beach sellers/massage guys were around but certainly didn't hassle anyone. They knew how to take no for an answer and just moved on. A walk on the dunes gives a new perspective but wear shoes as the sand is scorching in the hot weather. This has just turned into our favorite place in the Canaries. E

Don't think you can roam freely on these Dunes any more. There are now just a few marked pathways when walking from the Riu Palace end of Playa del Inglés and these take you only to the beachfront. The official excuse is that it is a Natural Park and that this measure is to preserve it. This is not the only such Park in Spain and these vigorous restrictions have only been put in place here with, seemingly, such force with park rangers ordering tourists back onto the designated paths. There is, apparently, the threat of fines for transgressions but didn't experience or witness this although there are plenty of rumours circulating that drones and helicopters are being used to enforce a crackdown!!! Certainly there are signs and information boards about sticking to pathways as well as posts set into the sand marking these new routes.
So, that seems to be the end of 'free roaming.'
Although there are a lot of naughty tourists everywhere, including here where rubbish has been left on the dunes rather than taken away with them, the controlling measures do seem rather over the top. After all, shouldn't we be able to ENJOY this stupendous place without such draconian controls? This is just the sort of thing that many holidaymakers will surely be upset about as, traditionally, this was a great place for roaming free and naked even!
There has been an official map released to show s totally forbidden to enter zone...o.k...fair enough but what about the rest of this huge space? Are we to be excluded from enjoying this landscape for ever?

well, what can be said. please remember that i am writing this as we are still in the grip of covid and will bear this in mind. i am here for a month having a break from travelling for the last 2 years. i wanted somewhere warm over the xmas/new year period and it has delivered. very comfatable. i go for a lot of walks and get to see everything at ground level and i have to say the whole place is a mixture of dilapitated and modern. i have been to 2 "shopping centres" which to say are derilict is bigging them up. all the concrete has starting to crumble and roofs missing and the reinforced bars are rusty and exposed. not closed due to covid as it looks like a few years. the medium sized hotels have sprung up and have been allowed to build without proper checks regarding safe building practacies. the dunes are really magnificent and only a brave person will try and walk it but the walk on the beach from playa del ingles to Maspalmas is a good stretch of the legs. plenty of bars and resturants along the waterfronts run by a mixture of scandinavian and european and some are keeping with rules and asking for covid passports. many well stocked supermarkets. a good bus and taxi network. on the whole an enjoyable break and if keeping out of the bigger more expensive hotels your money will go further.

I did not enjoy Maspalomas as much as I thought I was going to.
As I only stayed four days I thought it was not worth hiring a car. It would be more relaxing to stay in the area as I thought it would offer all I needed for a short relaxing break. However all people seemed to be doing there was relaxing, sunbathing and eating.

The sea front near the lighthouse has a range of shops, but you cannot spend all your time here as the clothes are mostly expensive. There is an abundance of restaurants, however once you have tried one you have tried them all. They are all mostly outdoor seating venues which serve steak, seafood, paella, pizza, pasta and chicken. All the food is decent but not wow, and it's not that cheap as I thought it would be. Once you have eaten in one, you have eaten in them all as each new restaurant reminds you of the last place you ate.

Player del Ingles has the same purpose built tourist units as Maspalomas, but without the designer clothes and perfume shops. It just sells the souvineers with 'I love Gran Canaria' on, the fake designer clothes, and the restaurants are the same as in Maspalomas but slightly cheaper. In Ingles there are bars too, most of which serve food and look like the restaurants but contain a few drunk pensioners waving Dutch flags to country music from the 70s. The bus services are terrible. You can never find a taxi however and wait at an empty taxi rank for half an hour. On a Sunday its particularly bad. The water park and zoo are very far away and difficult to access. The urban area is of very low density with lots of wasteland between buildings. Mainly low-rise tourist accommodation with big open spaces of rubble between them and a dried up river. Much of the area smells of sewage. You end up having to walk a lot, not knowing where to go. There are more non English speakers than people who speak English and the afternoon range is skewed towards the older tourist and is you are under 40 years old you won't meet many tourists the same age or younger. You will just see the odd one as you go about your travels.

Dunes were very pretty (which is why I’ve given it 2 stars instead of 0) but the rest of the beach was a tourist trap selling tatty memorabilia and sorry attempts at English food such as fish and chips and eggs and bacon (undercooked and not very appetising) It is just for tourists basically and doesn’t show any real resemblance of Spanish culture or history. We were hoping for traditional food and tapas but it was just full of cheap market stalls with people that would constantly try and grab you and try and shove cheap looking bracelets on your hand. There was lots of fake designer bags and it had a Benidorm type of vibe, full of shouty middle aged English people. The beach was extremely overcrowded and barely had any sun loungers, everyone was just cramped on the floor (The sand was far too hot to lay on).

Nothing much to do or see, there’s a chemist and a supermarket for the locals but apart from that there’s very little to do. There is a nudist beach next to the main one which was all fine and dandy as I like to sunbathe topless anyway (probably the most interesting part of the trip) but we did notice that there was a group of naked men hiding in the bushes which seemed weird and somewhat sinister for a place that openly embraces nudity.

If you want to experience some culture whilst you are here, I’d recommend instead travelling to Las Palmas old town as they have art galleries, museums and cathedrals to visit etc. It is an hour bus ride away though so if you are hoping for somewhere nearer-by don’t bother.

The non-naturist part of the beach is near to the lighthouse (kiosk 8). Further down the beach at kiosk 6 and 7 is the naturist beach. Kiosk 7 is predominantly gay whereas kiosk 6 is a mixture of people.
This was our first visit to a clothing optional beach outside of the UK and what a great experience it proved to be.
The beach is best approached via the 2.5 km trail through the dunes from the Riu Palace Maspalomas hotel. It took around 30 minutes to walk from there as you are walking through sand. This will bring you to the Kiosk 7 area of the beach. The beach is sandy (and gets very hot so wear shoes on the beach) and very clean. There is plenty of space for sunbathing either on sunbeds, on the beach itself or near the dunes.
We spent our time on the sunbeds at kiosk 6. As has been stated in other reviews only card payments are accepted for umbrellas and sunbeds. It is 2.50 euros for each item (so 7.50 euros for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella).
The kiosks are still closed but there are people who come around selling cold drinks and snacks. Sellers on the beach seem to be carefully controlled as you see the same sellers every day and they are un-intrusive.
At kiosk 6 it was mainly naked couples, which was great, with a few clothed people. One downside was that many people tended to smoke and as the sunbeds are close together it was difficult to avoid the smoke.
It is safe to leave your belongings on this part of the beach when you go in the sea. We did this and never had any problems.
The sea, being the Atlantic, can be very rough at times. However this didn't take away the fun of going in the sea which was warm.
There are no toilet facilities at this part of the beach which is disappointing but I'm not going to knock off any marks for this as the overall experience on the beach is fantastic. Our best naturist experience to date.

The sands dunes conjure up visions of being on another world, a place to leave your earthly worries behind, as well as your clothes and inhibitions if choose. And walking naked I found exhilarating, but even those that weren’t seemed to have acclimatised to the accepting surreality that accompanies the place. And passing wearing just a back pack and anklet people happily nodded good afternoon as if both strolling down a country lane. Whilst fellow naturists cast a smile like you’ve both come home. And a place for all sexualities, a public kaleidoscope of bodies and lusts, some openly entwined in the freedom and the sun. No judgement is made of it. Just people being people, who they really are, normally disguised in a textile world. With no obligation to join in, nor would you be approached unless so seek by lazing provocatively and retaining the pose under gauging gazes. But should that be your thing, enjoy love with an indulgent flavouring of hedonism, then a plentiful supply of fellow pleasure seekers with whom to share the liberating joy of the lunarscape. We stayed a week, and was an oasis experience 😉.

If you like walking or cycling but don't like it being hilly this is the place for you. We go in February and the weather is always lovely. The people are friendly and nobody bothering you its just a great place to chill. Market day is Saturday and Wednesday and at the moment they are doing an upgrade to the indoor market. There is lots to do or just chill by the pool or the fantastic beach.

Surrounded by the hotels of and apartments of Play Del Ingles and Maspalomas itself. This beach has as you would expect the most facilities of any beach in the area, this beach is the conventional expectation in the Gran Canarian seafront experience. You have numerous restaurants that’s presuming you aren’t based in one of the nearby hotels as well as number of outlets for water sports and entertainment. Because it’s more structured you don’t have the same feeling of density as you can get on the more natural beaches where space becomes a premium quickly. It is also more built up by its proximity to the hotels so can feel artificial but there is just enough natural beauty on view to still be interesting and worthwhile.

Recommended if you want facilities over nature.

For the last three years, since the pandemic, the food and drink kiosks at Maspalomas beach have been closed. Now the upgraded and renumbered kiosks are open. They serve a variety of food and drink, although more expensive than the local supermarkets (see price list in the attached photos).
Whilst we were there we found only one open toilet. This was at the storage kiosk B between kiosks 5 and 6. There is an attendant there who will charge you 50 cents to use the toilet. At all the other kiosks the toilet was locked. Lack of toilet facilities is still an issue at this beach.
Sunbeds and umbrellas are still cheap as 2.50 euros per item (7.50 for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella is a bargain). They fill up quite quickly at kiosk 7 with most sunbeds taken after midday, even on a weekday.
The kiosk numbers are now:
Kiosk 4 at the Playa del Ingles end of the beach is naturist.
Kiosk 5 and 6 at the middle of the beach is populated by mainly gay beach goers and naturists. These kiosks are close together.
Kiosk 7 at the Maspalomas end of the beach (where we went) was naturist.
Kiosk 8 near the lighthouse in Maspalomas is non naturist.
I never walked as far as kiosk 3 in Playa del Ingles. I assume this is non naturist.
This was our second time on the beach at Maspalomas. We would highly recommend this beach for naturists and non naturists too. Be warned though that the waves can be very strong and it can get very windy. At kiosk 7 the sunbed attendants do put up a wind break around the sunbeds when it does get windy which is a nice touch.
With food and drink facilities now available this beach has become our favourite beach.

Immense beach, with the dunes of maspalomas behind. Possibility of both free beach and to rent umbrella and sunbeds for 7,50 €. Around 5 pm they start to collect umbrellas, but you can stay safely and for those arriving from that time onwards can still use the sunbeds for free. Apart from perhaps the first "lido" coming from the parking lot, the next (from kiosk n.7) are mostly nudist beaches, but not exclusive (you can therefore also stay in costume). The various kiosks have just a drink, some ice cream / snacks, so it is recommended to go equipped. We stayed in mid-August and still found it quiet.
