Beautiful place for a lovely sunset experience
We went to this place for sunset and had a great experience. Place was crowded when we went. Water itself was very shallow and we could see people walking far inside. Parking lot was full and we went back, took first left and in around 200 feet, large parking facilities are there. Charges of a paid parking lot that we parked is not that costly. Public transport seems too crowded when we passed the bus stand. There is also a swing overlooking the sea and that was more for a photo-op. Definitely would recommnd.

    Gorgeous spot
This beach is secluded, gorgeous, and protected from the wind. There is a restaurant right on the water here too (only one do it had an hour wait for lunch before summer really began). You do have to walk down 140 stairs to get to the beach but they are pretty wide and flat. I did it slowly with a bum knee. There are also chair rentals from the restaurant.

    Great sandy beach for kids
Great sandy beach, my family had a lot of fun. Not a large area, so make sure to arrive in the AM. Beach beds and umbrellas are available for rent (8 EUR each), restroom available in restaurant

Top, quiet beach with amazing views.
Not too busy in the week, clear waters, life guards and reasonably priced sun lounger hire. Stay for the sunset! Added bonus; no water sport boats bombing around,

    Beautiful beach with wonderful water
A beautiful beach, the nicest we found on the island and we tried a few over the course of 2 weeks! Great facilities, reasonable loungers, warm, clear shallow water, spotlessly clean and even though it was busy, it wasn’t rowdy at all. We spent the day and wish we’d have found it sooner!

Visited here in September 2021. It was really quite crowded and the queue for the sunbeds or the restaurant was very long however staff were lovely and trying their best on a very busy day. The beach itself was quite crowded but we hired a sunbed and found a space. The sea was lovely for swimming in, not as clear as some other beaches in Malta but lovely anyway.

The drinks from the bar are on the pricey side but the pizza is very nice. To get to the beach from the road there are 160 steps down (and back up again!) Which some may find challenging, especially in the heat

If you had to do one beach on Malta mainland, this is it! Actually 3 beaches in a line separated by glorious hills you can hike (Golden Bay, Riviera Beach, Qarraby Bay), I did the middle one which is Riviera or shows as Għajn Tuffieħa on google. STUNNING natural looking beach, but still with optional sun beds (19euro for 2 including big umbrella). Has a restaurant on site called Singita (who also manage the beach rentals). They don’t really do chair service, but do have bathrooms!

Water is safe for kids, and you can go deep for big kids. Because of the large amount of stairs to get there, there are less families (which I enjoyed!).

You could easily go with your own setup. There is no need to pay. Just be there by 11am to comfortably get a spot. You can just rent the umbrella if you need.

Only unusual thing is they only put out the sun beds as you arrive, so they are all over the place which seems inefficient given the popularity. And yes thanks to smokers, the sand is a bit messy - shame on the smokers not the location though!

Easy bus transport leaving just a 5 minute walk (plus the stairs).

But bottom line, if you want a mainland beach where you look out and think “this is malta”, this is the beach I’d recommend.

(Obviously Blue Lagoon is not counted here as it’s not mainland Malta).

Nice beach and crystal clear water. We've been there for swimming on the weekend, therefore it was really crowded. In the evening hours it got less crowded. We hiked up the hill to see the sunset. All in all we had a nice time and would go there again.

I went to this beach with my boyfriend and, honestly, it didn't seem like much. A beautiful view, of course, and a nice bar/restaurant where you can eat but the beach is really too crowded and it is not easy to find parking (there are parking spaces but, if you don't get there early, it is difficult to find a place). Access to the beach is by going down a long staircase (198 steps, if I'm not mistaken) and, once you get down, you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds (1 umbrella and 2 sunbeds for €18). The problem is that we are all crowded together because there are so many people that there is very little space to stay. Lots of chaos, children screaming, kids smoking joints... water not as clean and crystal clear as in the photos, we expected much better! Personally I don't recommend it. There are other beaches that are much better (although more difficult to reach)!

We visited the area at the beginning of January on a sunny day, and there were very few people there, which just added magic to the whole experience. I imagine this place to be packed in summer, the beach is sandy and it's such a beautiful spot. The clay slopes provide a dramatic contrast to the blue sea below. It's worth walking all the way around the large 'rock' overlooking the sea. We walked around this and then down to the beach. We spent some time on the beach and then walked back up towards the tower. It is so beautiful here, the views are breath-taking and it's just absolutely worth visiting, especially on a cold, sunny day if you like hiking or on a warm, sunny day if you like swimming. Next time we'll go back with a kayak so we can explore the caves around the area.

Great beach, sandy and shallow. Can be a little crowded in August but mostly at weekends. Many steps down from top to beach so keeps you fit going back up. Excellent snorkelling and swimming.

Everything about this beach is absolutely stunning. I suggest you park/arrive as if you were going to the Golden bay. Then take the road on your left from the bus stops, walk a bit and turn right. You'll walk through some a hill that overlooks the golden beach for some cool photos, and eventually end up in from of the stairs that goes down to ghian tuffehia beach. The views from there are magical. The Bay seems to be windier than golden Bay. The water is crystal clear, shallow water for a long tract but still very swimmable. The sea here seems to be naturally a bit agitated, but in a pleasant way. The waves were similar to those artifical waves you have in those water play parks, people, both kids and adults were enjoying the game mother nature was offering. And all around a beautiful Mediterranean landscape and a tower with a Maltese flag. Unforgettable. There is a restaurant overlooking the beach, good food I must say but pretty expensive.
