Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This museum is built to commemorate mount Merapi eruption in 2010. Mount Merapi is one of most active volcano in the world. This museum is not well maintained and little bit creepy. The main attraction is a mount Merapi models that simulate eruptions.

You will get a lot of information about volcanoes, especially Merapi. The ticket price was affordable and the staff was nice and helpful. I hope that the local government gives more effort to keep the quality of the museum good. It's a really good musem!

My wife and I visited the Mount Merapi Museum and found it quite interesting in spite of the lack of maintenance it shows everywhere. Toilets are even worse. A shame.

Our visit to the Mount Merapi Museum was on 23rd April 2017. It was a Sunday afternoon and we had engaged the Lava Jeep Tour services for going around the base of Mount Merapi. As part of the Lava Jeep Tour, we were taken to the Museum. The Museum has interesting artefacts following the volcanic eruption of Mount Merapi as recent as 2010. It was a rainy day - perfect for a visit to the museum. My children were very happy to go through the various items on display there and read aloud about them. Each item is neatly labelled and the pictures are self-explanatory. All in all, a satisfying and enjoyable visit.

This museum was created to commemorate the magnitude of the eruption of Mount Merapi on the surrounding life. Described how the eruption and events thereafter. Beautifully designed. But it must be considered the cleanliness of the toilet.

This place has everything you want to know about the various Merapi explosions and more. There is both history and geology. Some English signs but it doesn’t cover the stories about the impact on the local community.

We booked a lava tour with a professional company. They took us in a Jeep, rough off road driving which was a lot of fun for my kids. We had helmets and seat belts. The museum was modest in my opinion. Unfortunately, there was fog so we couldn’t really see the Merapi mountain. I honestly thought we will be taken to the top of the mountain to see the actual lava ( like in the big island in Hawaii), however, we were disappointed that wasn’t the case. In general the off road driving was fun for the kids.

I was here with some friends.. The price of the entrance ticket was very affordable. And the area is so spacious. It would be perfect if you combine it with lava tour, to get the best effect of the volcano.
