Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful, unique destination. Must see. New road is under construction, could travel a bit slower.

Devil’s Town (Djavolja Varoš) is a natural formation of Hoodoo type formations – very impressive. We had about an hour’s walk through the snow. The walk takes you past the creek and up to Church of St. Petka and then the formations. There are steps near the formation to navigate. During winter none of the buildings at the entrance is open which includes the toilets. Magical when snowing.

A unique wonder of nature that you simply must see if you are in this part of Serbia, although it is worth coming to visit on purpose. My suggestion is to spend a few days in Prolom Banja or Lukovska Banja, from where excursions to the Devil's Town are organized.
The kind hosts will meet all your requirements, the only obligation for the guests is to respect the natural cycle in which they are.
At the entrance (or when leaving the complex) you can buy unique souvenirs.

The Đavolja Varoš complex is probably one of the most interesting natural sightseeing places in Serbia. The rocky formations which have been created by the nature itself for centuries and milleniums is simply astonishing. One wonders how these unusual natural objects were created and hidden from the eyes of the common people. Now that it's open to public, you should definitly visit this amazing natural complex. All recommendations!

Devil's Town (Diavola Varosh) is a natural landmark of Serbia N1. A good road leads to it. However, one must be very careful when using Google maps. Google maps offers the shortest option, which leads to a dead end along a rocky narrow and long road. This is no way. It is better to use Maps.me here.

Davolja Varos (Devil's Town, in Serbian) are a complex of natural rock formations, which are incredible. It is located in Southern Serbia and really it is in an isolated land, which has bad roads.
We came here at morning of a October's day of the last year and we stayed alone in the place. We walked around all formations, see them, and obviously took a lot of photos. Rock formations seems a houses of amaginary people, so I supose for this reason the name is Varos (town). Great place to visit, we did not expect it. Take care with roads.

If you are in Southern Serbia then I would like to recommend you visit Devil's Town. These towering rock formations have been created by erosion and are stunning. The walk through the forest is interesting and the views from the high vantage / viewing area are impressive.

Very interesting place
I recommend it
Beautiful nature.
The road to the top is well prepared. Even in August at 35Cdeg air temperatures a walk through the forest is not very bothersome and the final view rewards the effort.

Fantastic site and great escape from city bustle.
There is a restaurant in the natural shade near water (red spring) for a perfect break on a hot summer day.
Can be reached by car, with large parking area and souvenir shops in front of the entrance.

Hello,
Is there a parking lot at the entrance? How much does it cost? Can tickets be paid for with a card?
Thank you

How many steps to reach Djavola Varos?
А какое качество трассы, особенно на последнем этапе - не будет ли проблем?
Планируем ехать в июле на арендованом авто.

Guided tours are organized by Prolom Banja Hotel which maintains the area
Hello, I would like to see Devil's town by day-time. Then hike tot Prolom.
I have read, there's a hiking trail, I would love to know if that's true.
Than hike back tot Devil's town and see it by night in the artificial lighting.
Is this possible? And is there a place to camp near Devil's town?

Dear Bianca, there is a hiking trail from Devil's Town to Prolom Banja, but unfortunately it's not in good condition and without clear notification boards. Also, the site of Devil's Town is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Night tours are possible for organized groups only.
See you at Devil's Town!

Check out Belgrade Walking Tours, but keep in mind that it is very difficult to do a day trip since from Belgrade it is at least 4h drive... Usually tour operators have one night stay in some nearby city which makes it a bit more expensive...

Hi all! I'm thinking about travelling to Serbia in October and would like to visit Devil's Town but I won't have access to a car. How should I do this? Where is the best place to stay with access for a day trip? Are there any bus routes or will I have to go on a tour or by taxi? Any information on logistics would be great! Thank you very much in advance!

Hi, RBrog! Our suggestion is to travel to Kursumlija town (27 km from Devil's Town) and then take a taxi (there's no regular bus line to Devil's Town). If you want a place to stay, we recommend Prolom Banja (30 km) and you have direct bus lines to Nis and Beograd from there.
