Nice sand so good for lie and sunbathe and it’s very pretty to look at the beach however there are so many huge rocks and coral reef everywhere under the water right from the shoreline. You can’t really swim as you would probably gash yourself.
May be good if you like snorkelling however most of the coral looked dead and beige in colour some fish but not loads. I prefer to swim in deeper clear water without rocks so this is not it.
There is a very nice beach bar and restaurant at the right end, If you buy a drink they’ll let you use their pool and loungers.

Charming little hotel on the beach (Silver Beach), nice but stony beach, bring bathing shoes.
The hotel restaurant is very average, its plastic furniture has no charm.
In addition it closes at 5 p.m.…..the other bars/restaurants as well. in the evening for dinner lots of other Thai restaurants, but on the side of the main road, very very noisy
Where then walk 30 minutes to Lamaï Beach.
Where local flatbed taxi 40 bahts one way 40 bahts return…it’s okay
The bungalows are side by side, and all guests from outside the hotel cross the hotel to go to the beach, meh…
Tiny swimming pool, 4 deckchairs available, meh….
The rooms (more expensive) are superb, spacious and functional.
Everything remains correct overall, but I don't agree at all with some enchanting opinions
Paid breakfast, ok but nothing more

As a final curtain in my day trip, made sure I’d stop by a beach in the afternoon so I could relax and enjoy the sun and water. This beach was one I specifically checked on this website to determine which beach may be the best to enjoy. It did not disappoint!
Free entry and since I was there in December, it wasn’t too hot, but still fully enjoyable. The beach is located just before all these bungalows set right near the shore and they were quite cool and I imagine, quite nice to stay in of you want to be right on the beachfront!
Anyways, you can actually go out quite far and the water doesn’t get deep. Not a lot of people there, and it was the perfect place to just relax, enjoy, and burn off a nice afternoon after what was already a beautiful day trip to different sites around the island!

I was quite disappointed with the whole “Maldives of Thailand” beach - the sand is white and soft but going into the water is very painful and difficult. It also goes very deep very fast so not suitable for children. There was a slight breeze every day, which we quite enjoyed. And the color of the water is beautiful. But all in all it’s a very crowded beach.

This was billed as one of the best beaches for snorkelling, but the visibility was about 30cm, it was really cloudy and muddy, hard to see anything. Very few fish, The coral/rocks are very shallow making it very hard to swim without scraping yourself. The beach itself is clean, but rammed with concreted bars, and the usual plastic light box signs selling currency or massages. I wouldn’t visit again.

I came to Thong Takian to kill two days on a beach before I started a photo assignment on the island. All I wanted was a simple, clean room with a comfortable bed and a nice beach to decompress on after a long flight from London. Thong Takian nailed it. The staff are super friendly, the beach is wonderful and the little beachside restaurant was perfect. The coffee is amazing, even by my well traveled and snobby standards. Oh, the Thai food is good too. One thing I wouldn’t recommend is the sausages for breakfast. It’s one of those countries that just doesn’t do sausages or bacon properly.
I would definitely come back here. Hopefully with more time and a stunning woman.

Went this afternoon. Very crowded and no possibility of snorkelling, the visibility was awful. Sea was full of huge patches of seaweed. Nice soft sand though. We gave up and walked to somewhere near Le Meridien. Beach was lovely.

I can't understand these positive reviews at all. This beach is only nice to look at, otherwise it's completely unsuitable for bathing, swimming and snorkeling. Far too many sharp and pointed stones and corals. Absolutely unsuitable for children and very dangerous. The beach was neither clean nor was the water quality satisfactory, very very murky. My conclusion about Silver Beach/Crystal Beach...you can really save yourself the trip there.

I stayed at Silver Beach resort from May 1st 2014 to June 1st 2014. On my arrival, I paid the agreed price for the month. Bungalow: 6000 b and bike 3000 baht.
When I left on 30th May, I was called upon by the owner. A thai woman who is not polite. She said I did not pay yet. That we pay at the end, not at the beginning. When I shew her the invoice she gave me on 1st May, she replied it was not her resort. Indeed, after checking the bill, I noticed "Silver Beach" did not appear.
After an 15 minutes useless discussions, the cops arrived and I was forced to pay again 9000 baht.
I strongly advise people visiting this beach to avoid Silver Beach. They will rip you off!

This is a gorgeous beach. Soft sand, shallow water easy to snorkel in. Very picturesque. The water is calm, good for younger kids. Sadly, this beach is getting ruined by tourists. There was lots of garbage in the sand and hidden among the big rocks to the side of the shore (see pics). Tourists were leaving their cigarette butts, litter and water bottles everywhere. Many of the coral I saw were dead or dying. It's very sad. If you do visit this beach, or any other in the world, please pick up after yourself and be responsible with your garbage. Also, wear reef-safe mineral sunscreen if you plan on entering the water. Even small amounts of chemicals found in certain sunscreens, such as oxybenzone, can kill coral.

I'm planning to visit in June and I'd like to know if the waters are calm and swimmable here. There is a jellyfish season, says some vloggers. Is this in June? I would also like to snorkel directly from the shore. Where is the best place to do this on Crystal Beach?

My husband and I were both bitten by a small brown / black fish today in Koh Samui. It would not go away and at one point was hanging on my arm. No real damage as it was very small, but extremely annoying.

We are heading to ko samui in august and wondered if silver beach is the best resort to stay at. We would like to be able to snorkel off the beach
stay in a quiet location
And can easily walk to markets or places to eat
We stayed in kho lak last year and it ticked all the boxes apart from snorkelling
Thank you

you really need to get on a boat and visit the islands. generally there is no good off-beach snorkelling in Koh Samui. same goes for Kao Lak - you need to go to the Similan or Surin islands.

Is it wheelchair accessible or vehicle accessible.
Written 7 February 2015
Your best bet for Wheelchair access would be via Rock Salt Restaurant at Crystal Bay Yacht Club. There will be only one step to deal with to the beach there.
