This museum has both indoor and outdoor exhibitions. Outdoor old buildings - indoor the Hardangerfele-exibition and the traditional costumes which includes over one thousend different bodice inserts! The staff was very friendly and could answer all our questions. The cafe served coffee and lapper.

There are many outdoor museums in Norway, and this is one of the best. In addition, the indoor displays of traditional costumes and Hardanger fiddles are outstanding. Before viewing the many old buildings outside, we borrowed a guidebook from the receptionist, and it explained everything...More

We found this place to be a wonderful, relaxed history lesson. Would advise an early arrival for best parking options and less crowds. The exhibits are hands on and the staff are very friendly and informative. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Never having traveled in Scandanavia before, we found the cultural history fascinating. This museum is well-maintained and very interesting. Just wish there had been people in period costumes demonstrating activities/crafts .
