Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our tour operator, Ak-Sai Travel, proposed this tour to us as a full-day excursion lasting 8 to 10 hours and covering 410 km. In reality, the tour lasted just over 2.5 hours (100 km).

A local guide drove us in an old Russian 4x4 to the entrance of the Altyn Emel National Park, 8 km from Bashi Village, and then to a parking area at 43.879112, 78.563287 near the Singing Dunes. Here, we were given an hour to climb a dune, which was just not long enough.

The wind was quite strong, and it shouldn't have been any stronger, or we would have been sandblasted. However, there was no special sound to be heard. The walk up the dune was quite tiring because you sink into the sand. Once near the top at 43.874989, 78.562233, the view was very beautiful.

The dune wasn't quite steep enough to slide down. You have to generate speed with your feet. But then, indeed, there was a loud hum to be heard.

On the way back, we drove along Stone Steles of Oshaktas at 43.928757, 78.486435. We did not visit the Chokan Valikhanov Spring.

If you are in Altyn Emel National Park, this trip is a must, but I don't find it reason enough to travel to Altyn Emel National Park specifically for this.

It is recommended to arrange your own transportation so that you can determine how long you want to spend at the dunes.

There is effort required to get here, but the hike up the sand dunes is worth it. The drive from Almarty is an adventure in itself.

Nice sand dune in the middle of a non-desert area.

Its tiring to climb up the dune but fun to come down sliding with the sound of the drums due to the slide due to which it gets the name of Singing dune.

Fun activity for all including children.
