Overview

More
This unique talk on bio and chemical free gourmet extra virgin olive oil, given by Matteo, expert as well as one of Chianti's premier olive growers, is a chance to learn how the best oil is made and why it requires careful handling at each step of its production. The talk is given at the Lombardi Estate tasting room, surrounded by his 4,000 olive trees. This is also where the stone frantoio (olive press of which this is one of only 14 presses in Tuscany) is located, so you will be able to see the stone grinding wheels and press that delivers the oil from the olives. Seminars and tours are UPON REQUEST.

Wonderful tour, delicious oil. Matteo was both educational and entertaining. A better alternative to your classic wine tour and tasting. We were shown the oil press and the vineyard which were both very interesting. They also explain the differences between cold pressed and extra virgin...More

We were recommended to Pornanino by the hotel we were staying at which was close by; we didn't know what to expect except perhaps some oil of superior quality to what we were used to back in North America. What we ended up getting was...More

Difficult to find because GPS lost signal in the countryside, but it's worth the effort to get to Pornanino for olive oil education and tasting. Matteo is superb at describing how olive oil is produced, and explaining all about the production in their olive mill....More
