Its age. Its architecture. Its frescos. It has survived earrthquakes and war. The roof soars up on huge pillars (or possibly columns!) it is austere but awe inspiring. Walk the stream alongside and behind it, to see the caves which are imagined to be tombs...More

Kevin had great directions to help us do a great loop walk. Scenery was amazing especially down by the river.

The abbey itself is worth a visit, but if you take the path down to the the left of the Abbey, you'll reach the river, offering refreshing pools to swim, play and relax in. Children love it!
