Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely amazing morning tracking chimpanzees with Imelda.
Imelda was such a good guide she knows everything about chimpanzees and she really looked after us and did everything to give us the best experience!
We also lost count of how many chimpanzees we saw it was a perfect morning 10/10

This was an an amazing experience, far surpassing our expectations. We had previously gone to Kibale for Chimp trekking and having been left slightly disappointed with our experience, decided to try here. Wow, we really weren't disappointed. Due to Covid, there were no other tourists when we went signing the visitor book it showed very low tourist numbers over the oadt few months. For us it turned our to be a personal trek through the rainforest to search for them. Our guide was fabulous and after an hour we found ourselves in thick rainforest surrounded by the Chimpanzees. Yes at times it was difficult to get photos, but there were plrnty of opportunities to grab some shots. For us it was the experience too. The noise at times was deafening as the Chimks shook branches above our heads causing us to be showered with leaves. A couple of the Chimos are real characters and put on quite a display. It's not 85 dollars as advertised on their site, it is 130 dollars. Its cheaper than Kibale, less commercial and in our opinion much better so go here instead.

This trek was one of our groups highlights as we (22 of us, all ages) trekked thru forest for a chance to observe chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Our guides were helpful, knowledgeable and careful about the forest. By staying somewhat still we were rewarded by having the experience of seeing the chimpanzees swing and climb thru the trees, sit in the trees, and watch them eat their lunch.

We had a great time looking for the chimps. Our guide was very nice and knowledgable. Can not remember his name right now. I had the feeling they knew where the chimps were located but before heading there we wandered around on some of the tracks which was nice because we found a couple of Chimps on the ground. After this we headed to the tree where the chimps were located . A total of 6 chimps were there. We spent about an hour there .

Recently, and what was an amazing journey! Hubby and I headed off on a three week African adventure visiting Kenya and Uganda! A part of this incredible adventure was to track Chimpanzees in the Budongo National Forest.

Our tracker Chris already knew where the Chimps were and after about a three kilometres easy walk along a forest trail our cameras were snapping away trying to acquire the “money shot”!

The day was cool and although the Chimps were in the tree tops catching the warmth from the sun, and making it a little difficult to see them clearly, it was still an incredible part of the three weeks we spent travelling around East Africa! Trip of a lifetime!

A special thanks to Chris our guide/tracker who managed to get a couple of good shots of the Chimps with my camera, leaving me free just to enjoy the moment!

We had a fantastic time with Chris our guide. He was so friendly, patient and knowledgeable.
We got so close to the chimpanzees! We felt humbled. After reading reviews I thought they’d be in the trees. They were on the ground and climbing. We saw so many different behaviours. We spent about an hour with the group after a beautiful and fascinating forest trek. My whole family loved every moment.

Wow! Who knew that trekking for chimpanzees in Budongo could be as difficult as mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi. But equally rewarding. Robert, our ranger/guide, raced through the forest in search of the chimpanzee family. Unlike gorillas who move slowly through the forest, chimps seem to effortlessly move at break-neck speed through Budongo. It was so fun to just get peeks at them; and then have to take off after them as they moved to a different feeding area. A warning to photographers - it is quite dark in the forest and the chimps hang out (way up) in trees - take a fast, zoom lens on your camera. Camera phones are not going to cut it on this journey.
