My husband and I took a 7-day, self-guided "culinary" walking tour in Umbria in mid-October. We walked from Assisi to Spello and then took a train to Spoleto, spending 2 nights in each city. Our hotels were nicely situated for walking in town; well- appointed, comfortable, and quiet; and offered excellent service as well as substantial breakfasts each day.
The culinary parts of the tour were delightful: delicious food in two elegant restaurants and a cooking lesson followed by lunch with wines overlooking vineyards. The walk after lunch was relaxed and lovely, still through quiet countryside to the next town. The wine-tasting dinner in Spello was in the wine cellar with only one other table of guests. (We two were the only ones with Ecologico/Meravigliosa Umbria Tours.) The simple meal was quintessential Italian: fine, fresh ingredients prepared simply and perfectly.
The printed walking instructions were spot-on. We were not tekkie enough to use the GPS guide that Petra sent. Next time we will figure that out in advance.
This was an excellent value and Petra went above and beyond to be sure that we got to our destinations in good shape.

We absolutely loved the gourmet cycling tour of Umbria that Ecologico Tours arranged for us. It was the perfect itinerary for us and our two teens. Petra was very responsive throughout the entire planning period, and met us at the hotel the first evening for a thorough briefing, while her husband Paolo made sure we were acquainted with our bikes. The route maps were extremely easy to follow, mostly on quieter backroads. We really enjoyed biking in the morning, pulling into nice hotels in the afternoon, and having a little surprise most every evening in the form of a delicious dinner. Our wine tasting dinner in Spello and cooking class in Spoleto were absolute highlights. The only thing we might have changed was upgrading to higher-end bikes, as two of our party are more serious bikers. I'm already dreaming about our next trip to Italy and would use this outfitter again, with no hesitation.

We have just finished a 6 day cycle tour with Ecologico Tours booked through Outdoor Travel, Victoria, Australia.
Just wanted to say that Paulo was very helpful and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed the cycling. We had E bikes which were great, especially as it was very hot. All the arrangements, luggage transport etc went smoothly. Highly recommend

We took a 5 days tour in Umbria and everything was perfect - the hotels, the itinerary, the bikes, our guide (Cristiano, that did an excellent job), the organization of all the details (including a pick up from the airport) etc.
I strongly recommend them for a great tour in Umbria !!!

A truly wonderful trip. They took care of every detail! The biking directions were perfect. The routes they chose were (typically) quiet and infrequently traveled. The bikes were super-comfortable and we so appreciated the time and attention they took to orient us to every detail of the bikes so that we felt safe and secure. The hotels we stayed in were lovely. The first evening of wine tasting at Enoteca Propenza was a memory of a lifetime. Truly a magical evening.
In short, this was a marvelous trip. I'd travel again with Ecological Tours in a heartbeat!

My wife and I planned a bike tour from Perugia to Spoleto and we got in contact with Paolo from Ecologico tours to hire the bikes. As soon as I mentioned our plans he explained me that riding on bikes with kids out of Perugia would have not been the best choice, given the lack of real bike paths. Clearly this was against his interests as he lost one day of bike rent, but he was committed to help us in planning the best experience out of our tour (which we planned independently, we asked Ecologico Tours only for the material, not the tour planning). Despite our independent planning, Paolo was generous with his advise, being a local he knew things that are not clearly written on the guidebooks, and he probably saved our holiday. I can only recommend the great professionalism of Paolo and his team and the outstanding quality of the material he provided us with.

Met Paolo on our first night, to be issued with our bikes and routes etc.in Viole outside Assisi. He was very helpful and we really liked the bikes . I had an issue with a pedal on day 2 and it was fixed very quickly. Paolo was so friendly and helpful and even returned a pair of glasses I had left in the pannier before we headed home. Couldn't say enough about the service - really approachable and helpful - we had a great holiday - although very hard work at times the hills in the heat and will go for electric bikes next time. Paolo was impressed we managed without! We booked through Freedom Treks in the UK. All hotels bar one were excellent.

We had a great time on the 4 day cycle of the Umbrian Valley. We booked it through Flexitreks who subcontract out to local partners, which in our case was Ecologico Tours. Petra met us at the designated time and provided a comprehensive briefing with full notes of the daily routes, including GPS tracks to be used on a phone. The GPS tracks were spot on and really easy to follow making navigation stress free and simple. We were also given a phone holder to attach to the bike by Paolo when he dropped the bikes off at our first hotel. Both bikes were hybrids with panniers including helmets, hi vis jackets, locks and puncture repair kit - everything you needed!
Unfortunately a rider in our group fell off their bike on the first day and required a visit to the hospital. Petra immediately responded to our call for help, arriving on scene within 15 mins, organising our bikes to be picked up and transporting us to a nearby hospital (next to our hotel for that night). She helped translate to medical staff both in person and over the phone. This was such an enormous help and meant we were able to finish the rest of the tour (after Paolo dropped the bikes at our hotel the next morning).
A fantastic company and amazing support when it all goes wrong! We couldn’t fault the service and we highly recommend them - and we will certainly be booking again.

I wanted to walk the Via Francigena from Switzerland to Rome with some friends. I researched the internet and obtained specifications and prices from a number of operators. I decided to go with Petra. Their price was reasonable but they were very flexible and considerate. We changed their routine program by including a rest day each ten days or so. They suggested the ideal towns We also wanted to visit the Cinque Terre when we got near the coast. Nothing was too much trouble. They are a great operation

We did a 7 night self guided cycle tour through Flexi treks uk who used Ecologico tours in Umbria. Petra and Paolo had the trip very well organised from the meeting the night before to being available throughout the tour if we required bike advice. The trip notes and maps were very detailed and took us through gorgeous country side, remote side roads and small tracks through olive groves and cute towns. Great accommodation. A thoroughly enjoyable trip, thank you Petra and Paolo
