Worth a stop - we accidently took this little walk after patting the puppies and feeling obliged to contribute in some way - well worth it, authentic look at goldmining 'in the day'

We were met by Mr Mitchell, an interesting character who gave a brief introduction about gold and the mine here. Small display of old artefacts and photos, including mineral samples and old tools. Self directed tour through short, old mine tunnels and tramways to see...More

Off the main road, a old goldmine working area, where you can also try your luck at mining for gold. Have visited this place several times.

Well... we only stopped because we would not make it to Shantytown anymore. The guy at the entrance gave us a 60 second run down of facts and then it was about 20 minutes of traipsing around some old tunnels and a little track through...More

We can’t recommend this attraction. We arrived thinking that this would be interesting. Despite our greeting on entry, the staff completely ignored us, preferring to discuss with another couple. After several minutes of being completely blanked we decided to leave - no point trying to...More

The real old gold mine. Not a tourist trap. Great talk from then owner. Gave us a touch and off we went to discover the gold mine workings. They worked hard. A truck load of ore mined for 1oz gold. Would have been special to...More

We only really learned about this through TripAdvisor, stopped and were not disappointed! This place is so cool! Really authentic, almost to the degree of being a bit scary when you venture into pitch black mining tunnels (unguided). We saw all the workings of a...More

Stopped here on the way to Charleston. We were greeted by the owner and had a good yarn about the history of the mine. We didn't have any cash on us but he kindly let us I anyway. Had a wonderful time exploring the tunnels,...More

It's a very authentic goldmine! I explored dark tunnels, mine shafts, and passageways through the iron sand rock, walked along the original train tracks, witnessed equipment used in the day. In the little miner’s hut at the entrance, I met the man whose great great...More

Obviously family-run. I don't mind the self-guided nature of it. You can tell it's genuine, The guy at the beginning gives you an overview and you do the rest. Could have a bit more signage, but I thought it was great nonetheless. Authentic.
