This special space occupies an elevated location of the northern cliffs of Lidingö, an island that lies to the east of the city centre, right in the Baltic Sea. Carl Milles was a daring improviser regarding landscape design. On this steep stone cliff-site he integrated such diverse architectural elements as columns from King Gustav Ill's old opera house and a... More

Have been to Stockholm many times but never to Millesgarden. We enjoyed the Tove Janssen exhibition but it's really the house and gardens that are the star attraction. It reminds me of a mix of Hearst Castle and Peggy Guggenheim's house. The sculptures in the garden are remarkable and the house beautiful. It was magical in the snow but would... More

Although you can see some of these same statues other places, for example in front of the concert house in Stockholm or at Radio City Music Hall, there is much more to this museum than the statues. Besides Milles's work, home, and collection of antiques, there is a gallery where other art is shown.

This is a beautiful small museum well worth a visit! Within the exhibition hall they do have several different exhibitions during the year! What amazed me was the beautiful statues in the garden!

Though it may be a bit of a hassle to get to using public transportation (metro to bus and, finally a short walk), it is worth every bit of effort. The sculpture is displayed in a spacious, well designed garden with a beautiful view across the waterway. In addition to the outdoor garden, there is a museum with a collection... More

Beuty is sometimes rare to find these days. To fill up your own cup for long time in the future you need such astonishing places like Millesgården.

Millesgarden is amazing! The soaring sculptures are enormous and beautiful. The place is magical, with fantastic views. There are things to see both in and outside and one feels inspired by the surroundings as well as the artwork.

Visited here on a Saturday to see the Josef Frank exhibition. That was fascinating in itself but then there were the gardens, the wonderful sculptures, the houses and the view of Stockholm back across the water. We had fica there and it was a lovely experience. A wedding was also taking place. We'd traveled there by public transport by tube... More

Took a little while to get to, but was well worth it. Beautiful location, beautiful art. Had a nice exhibition at the entrance also.

Not the easiest place to reach (metro, bus and walk), but well worth the effort. A steeply sloping site with various terraces filled with Carl Milles' sculptures, imaginative, creative and intriguing. Definitely needs a fine day, since most of the sculptures are outdoors and those perched on tall columns need a clear sky to set them off nicely. There's plenty... More
