A pleasant walk

Just nice to stroll along the malecon, check out the various booths and talk with them. Have a glass of tequila and enjoy life.

The Chapala Malecon is a great place to walk along the waterfront of Chapala and enjoy the scenery, vendors and buzz. If you go early in the day (before noon) on a week day it is quiet with a few vendors open and groups of men congregating. By the afternoon and weekends this is a busier place with families, vendors,... More

If you've not visited Chapala for some time, you owe it to yourself to give it another visit. The area is not what it was years ago. Chapala has made a real effort to make itself an attractive town. There are new restaurants, a very attractive downtown, a newly updated malecon, and friendly people.

The malecon is a great place for individuals, couples and families to stroll, shop or just sit and enjoy the beauty of the lake. It's very quiet during the week and fairly bustling on the weekends. Mexican people love family times and the weekend sees families eating, playing, walking and talking together, so nice to see.

This is a great getaway from Guadalajara which is under an hour away. The natural beauty of the place is unique and stunning. The biggest lake in Mexico that is surrounded by mountains and has an island in the middle with restaurants. Everything here is not fast paced, so relax and enjoy the beauty of the location. Take a stroll,... More

Just a wonderful place for a friendly, leisurely stroll. Towards the end of the malecon, many places to eat and drink. Vendors are only on one side of it if you want to avoid them but you will be missing out on some great bargains.

Nice place to get away if you live in the city, walking in the malecon and enjoying live music in the sorroundinds restaurants.

I came for a 6 day visit to see my retired Aunt and Uncle who, live in nearby Chula Vista. I prefer the town of Ajijic which is 10-15 away. But Chapala has a pretty waterfront walkway, a good market which I think is open everyday- excellent bead work available. And some nice places to chill for a cervecez or drink.... More

The Malećon is keep clean and there are numerous hanging flower baskets. At both ends, (the Malećon is divided by the main street) are restaurants. We were there mid-week and there were no crowds. I expect that could change on weekends and holidays. There is an interesting fountain off the street and if you want to rent tour boats, they... More

Nice boardwalk to take the kids and enjoy an afternoon stroll. The pier and lake are nice to watch. The waters were low when we visited. The scene could have been more desirable had the waters come to the edge; however, the mariachi bands that randomly came up to serenade us were worth the tips. The sidewalk vendors also were...
