We took the Sunday lighthouse tour on a sunny windy day. Our volunteer guide was excellent. She took her time telling us about the plants and geology as we made our way up the hill toward the lighthouse, on the sheltered leeward side. The views were excellent, though it was too windy to see the whales. Check their website for... More

The gorgeous vistas of Big Sur will pull you in! Make sure to have a camera on hand because with the beautiful emerald blue Pacific Ocean on one side and the majestic pine trees on the other you'll grab some great pictures. Before you start your drive into Big Sur be sure to pack your lunch because you won't find... More

The Point Sur State Park, featuring the historic Point Sur Lightfhouse, is unlike any other place in the world that is open to the public. It sits on a 350' rock, jutting out into the Pacific Ocean, in one of the most scenic locations in California. Getting there is half the fun, and returning at about sunset along State Route... More

The Big Sur area is one one the nicest places to visit along highway one. It's only about a 45 minute drive from Monterey.

The getting there is so much better than the prize. The drive along highway 1 from Monterey to the Big Sur is very rewarding with fabulous vistas but we were told that the restaurant Nepenthe was unmissable. I must have missed something, the restaurant was closed and the views from the restaurant gardens were no where as good as the... More

We have visited the USA about 13 years in a row and visited this area many times, but we always missed the Point Sur Lighthouse tour due to timing and the tour dates/hours. We have been to almost every other lighthouse on the California coast and a few on the East Coast. This was the best for sure because it... More

The Big Sur is a must see if in Northern California. It's quite a drive from any major city but it has one of the most breathtaking views you will ever see and there are several look out points where you can get some great photographs. Most people go to Big Sur and camp but if you're doing so be... More

We took the tour on a Sunday in April and it was cool and cloudy when we arrived. During the tour, it warmed and cleared up, and we had really beautiful views in all directions. The wildflowers were blooming. The history is interesting, the restoration of the keeper's quarters is meticulous, the location is stunning, and the tour guides were... More

What a great hike and history lesson about the Pt. Sur Lighthouse. Kevin and Eleanor were the guides for the day - we had Kevin. He was entertaining and full of knowledge! The views from the path leading to the lighthouse were breathtaking. We enjoyed getting to the top and chatting with the docents, as people drank hot cocoa and... More

Lighthouse tour was really nice. Views from on top of the mountain are breath taking!! Check their website for times and guidelines. During summertime, recommend arriving 45 minutes early to avoid being cut off from the tour capacity limitation. Paranormal activity abounds there so say the docents who volunteer to lead tours there!!
