At Tomb you will find Norways biggest collection of modern roses, as well as a nice selection of historical roses and some wild species. In the rose garden at Tomb there is approximately 350 different sorts of roses and about 1900 rose bushes. The first roses normally start blossoming early June. Many of them blossom until the cold arrives in October. The best time for visiting the garden is between mid July and mid August, when most of the roses are in bloom. Tomb rose garden is developed in cooperation with the Norwegian Rose Society who also had the original idea. The work on the garden started already in 1990, and it was largely expanded in the years 1993 and 1995. The purpose of Tomb Rose Garden is, amongst other things: To serve as adornment and be enjoyed by the audience Evaluation of roses in use Planting og evaluation of new rose types To increase peoples knowledge about roses and the caretaking of these The rose garden is always open for audience. Entrance in the garden is free. All roses are marked with signs. Lectures and guided tours of the garden can be arranged. For more information, please contact Tomb Jordbrukshogskole (agricultural school), telephone 69 28 30 00 or see their website.
