Best wine we tried on the island, and the walking trail to other vineyards is brilliant. You should partner with Wai Knot with the easy walkable access to 4-5 vineyards.

This is how wine tasting used to be and I miss it! Great wine and great staff to help you learn about their wine. It's a basic setup with none of the fancy wine tasting setup that most wineries now have. I liked Obsidian very much and will go back. No food on offer, which was fine for us.

So great I had to buy a bottle to take home, the 2014 Syrah. Tasting is $10 or free if you buy a bottle and worth lugging it back to the mainland. Lovely service, we where lucky in getting a table straight away and with the long uphill walk from the previous vineyard the cold water was greatly appreciated.

Julia made our visit to Obsidian exceptional. Felt like we had a personal guide through the 10 wines we tasted. Exceptional hospitality and strong knowledge of the local area. She made our day when she summoned up a cheese platter with some crackers for our ravenous children. Oh yeah, and we tasted some absolutely stunning wine as well!

We had a lovely wine tasting experience our hostess was brilliant and knowledgeable, but we do feel the $10 tasting charge, which seems to be standard across waiheke, is excessive. We ended up sharing glasses as a group of five people worked out at over $200 spent on wine tasting on our first day! We traveled from Australia to do... More

Beautiful staff, great knowledge of the estate and wine. You can roam the Vineyard on a self guided tour then return and purchase one of the many selections of quality wine they have to offer.

Was excited to go there as they advertised some Tempranillo and Montepulciano. However, they were just average. I've had better elsewhere. Didn't really like "The Mayor" which was mostly cab franc. Didn't like their merlot blends. However, we did grab a bottle of "The Obsidian" as it had a higher cabernet blend. It was actually good. There are other places... More

Scenic and relaxing. Awesome flight for only NZ$10. Mediterranean wines. Loved the Pinot Gris and Montepulciano.

Seven of us attended for a wine tasting and enjoyed 6 wines selected by the sommelier of the day. These were served with a platter of cheese, biscuits and olives. The wines were pleasant and the setting was nice amongst the grapevines.
