Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The views, the history, the architecture, the wildlife, and a good workout. If you come to Nakhchivan and don't do this, you may just want to stop traveling at all. I don't want to spoil it but you need to come here and try to make it to the top. It will be worth it.

A hidden gem in Azerbaijan. Climbing up the more than 2000 stairs to the top of the fortress can be a bit of a challenge but once you reach it you will be rewarded with an awesome view. The place is unknown to many.

Instead of climbing up all 2000+ steps at day with the hot sun hanging atop, we chose to do it at night. It was a nice and breezy climb with a huge full moon beaming at us from above. View at night was a little disappointing as they did not light up all the lights around the periphery of the castle. Nonetheless, a great workout and evening spent with our local hosts. Can imagine how beautiful it would be if someone were to capture the milky way with the castle at the bottom. There's no clouds at all in Nakhchivan!

There are a lot of steps to climb but an amazing place. 12th century, besieged by Tamerlane for 14 years. Well worth a visit.

The hike to the top is on a steep and secure staircase. The views are forth the effort. The small museum at the trailhead is worth a quick visit.
