We visited this place with our small kids. Very nice location as well as very well treated. It was only one thing which I was missing - it was impossible to pay by credit card. Anywhere. In the pub, at the entrance, nowhere. I believe we are in 21st century so this would be mandatory. However we spent very nice... More

Close enough to Olomouc for a pleasant afternoon visit. Ask for the English language pamphlet guide ģat the ticket office. Wear walking shoes and take water because the parking lot is at the bottom of the hill. The castle walls and gates are fascinating. There is a restaurant which serves a casual lunch. You will need some Czech money change... More

Ruins of a castle seem an interesting option during a trip through Czech Rupublic. Situated close to the major Ostrava-Olomouc-Brno motorway, offers interesting views on the surrounding area. There is a collection of steel artworks located in the castle. That's a pity that few areas in the castle are open to public. The castle in Hukvaldy near Ostrava, was more... More

We find the sign posts for attractions in the Czech Republic sometimes hard to follow or find. But once there it was an enjoyable couple of hours. Not crowded. Easy parking. A 400m walk up the road from the car park. History sheet given to us in English.

This palace is a REAL one and we were so pleased to find it still open (until 30 Oct.) We were given literature to read and could easily see how the unassailable structure was the perfect home for rogues! Saw 2 wild boars happily grazing on the inside too!!! (in an enclosed gully)

Helfstyn Castle is situated on top of a hill. Unfortunately, when I got there, it was extremely foggy. Minus is that I couldn't see the views from the top of the towers, but on the other hand, it gave the castle a mysterious look. Entry feeis only CZK 60 and as individual visitor, you receive a 2-pager with the history... More

For fans of history, or casual Game of Thrones viewerd, absolutely a must see. It sits at the top of the big mountain and withstanded all of the sieges during its 700 years of history.

This is a huge castle with parts in good order and others in ruins. There are lookouts in various places which give you a nice view. Since this castle is located at the top a small mount, the views are very nice of the surrounding countryside. The castle is also used as a center for the display of works of... More

I've been visiting every once a while, the exhibits are improving, and the castle and surrounds definitely are worth visiting. The castle restaurant is just average-level, but hiking and bike trips around are great.
