Pete was super friendly and sent us all the relevant info and forms to fill in beforehand. We booked a day course on my son's birthday, for a group of adults and teenagers. We got a bit lost trying to find the place, but Chas was very helpful with directions. We reached 30 minutes late but he still gave us the full course and was patient and encouraged even the 'less than brave' to make the climb and go home happy. The whole experience was very good and enjoyable, something to remember for a long time. All visitors to the Peak district should try this out! And we took some lovely pics.

Many thanks for taking the time to review your experience Manuel. I'm glad that Chas was able to give you the full session as we hate to see folk disappointed, especially on a birthday treat 😁

Our family (9, 12, 44, 44) loved our rock climbing with Pete. We had great fun in a beautiful and convenient location. Pete made us feel really safe. We couldn't recommend it more highly.

Thanks for your review Robin. Windgather rocks never fails to deliver, it's a stunning drive in, literally only a 2 minute walk in from the parking, has awesome views and is one of the best rock playgrounds the Peak District had to offer. I had a great session with your family and I hope that you all left with additional skills and confidence that you can now implement yourselves on the indoor climbing walls at home.

Well, what super day they all had! Pete is so professional, there were never any concerns over safety. He handled the different skills of the girls expertly and sympathetically. Good humour, and they all all knew who was in charge. The girls exceeded all of their own expectations, and their verdict:- can we do it all again?

Hi Alan, Many thanks for taking the time to review your experience with us and your kind words. The girls were great to coach and improved a great deal even in that short period of time. It's fun for us as well when they are enthusiastic and already have some skills. We really enjoy the fine tuning and watching the development. It would be great to see the girls again and see how much they have progressed with their climbing wall experiences back home. When you come back can you bring the same weather :-)

We had been told that the rocks would appear on the right, but as the rain splattered the windscreen, we couldn't see anything. A car pulled up behind us and a guy called Chas came over with a smile on his face, introduced himself and showed us to the rock face. Chas patiently told us what we'd be able to do on that cold, wet day. Still smiling, he said that we had three options 1) climb the rock, one at a time, as it was the safest way to do it, 2) we could rebook when we were back in the area, or 3) we could go to a climbing wall and he'd give us some training. We chose 3) and followed him to an amazing climbing wall where, true to his word, we enjoyed several hours of tuition. Our skill levels improved, whether simply climbing, learning to look for routes, how to belay correctly, proper exercises... To be honest, we learned so much I can't possibly write it all down. And as for the weather, I'm pretty sure we'll be rebooking when things improve, so we can put our new skills to the test on the rock face.

Hi, Many thanks for your review. I'm so glad that you chose to do something rather than knocking it on the head! Windgather Rocks is a great place but every now and then it does get the weather, and it really DOES get it! You can progress skills so much more quickly in a climbing wall environment so it probably worked out well for you all and Chas is an excellent coach who loves his indoor coaching as much as the outdoor stuff. It would be great to see you back in the Peak District, but when you book, can you please remember to book the book the good weather this time, it's the little 'sun' icon bottom right :-)
