We visited on New Years Eve on a whistle-stop pub tour of Pembrokeshire having previously failed to make it due to the advancing tide which nearly cut us off! On our second attempt a year later, we were delighted to see in the New Year with a roaring log fire right in a proper old pub with so much character - they don't make pubs like this any more! It was sad to read only days later that the the current occupiers were calling it a day and the pub was to close. With the hindsight of what was to follow with the pandemic of 2020, that they have been fortuitous timing. But I hope it re-opens again because it will be a great loss to the community and to those of us who appreciate a proper, good old-fashioned 'local'.…

Having walked around the headland we arrived, on a chilly day, at the Old Point and on entering the warmth from the open fire was very welcoming. Not wanting a huge meal we picked out a starter that looked interesting, Cheesy bread, never heard of it ssid I. Anyway we ordered a plate each, with coffee, then sat back to see what we would get. Ten minutes later we were served with a small loaf smothered in cheese, stuffed with brie and then baked to melt the cheeses. It was heavenly. Highly recommended to all.…

Called in for a swift half and ended up ordering Sunday lunch as it looked so good and was not disappointed! The beef was beautiful, the gravy was delicious and the veg was cooked to perfection. Fully recommend the Barti Ddu rum and blackberry trifle too. Definitely worth the trip down the point lane.…

I have been reading some reviews all the way to around 1014 and I have came to a conclusion that it hat changed hands once or twice since then. We wondered up the pothole ridden road just following the signs until we came across the pub. Now if you drive a large s.u.v or a very small or low car you might find it very hard to make it. So just park in the village and walk up. Over the 10 days we were there, we were lucky enough to be there for a party they put on with a band, food and drinks. My mum has her favourite window seat inside and the food is great. You could consider the drinks a little dear but considering how rural it is, the expense of obtaining it is probably rather large. The chips are amazing and the burgers are excellent. I can say though that the reviews saying they charge the locals less that the tourists are long gone and that I have not seen it happening.…
