About
Located today in Chassagne-Montrachet, the Domaine Famille Picard was founded in 1951 by Louis Félix Picard, who owned 2 hectares of vines in the commune of Chagny. Michel Picard, his son, joined him a few years later. In the early 1970s, he took over the family business, supported by his wife Liliane, who also came from a winegrowing family. Through passion, courage and obstinacy, Michel Picard has built up a wine estate recognised by his peers over the years. In 2004, his daughter, Francine Picard, took over the management of the family estate with the aim of restructuring the vineyard around a strong environmental approach. Today, 140 hectares of vines spread over 4 estates between the Côte Chalonnaise and the Côte de Beaune are managed using organic viticulture, including 30 hectares of biodynamic viticulture.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Warmly welcomed by delightful lady in wine tasting room. Ended up joining two others on a tasting of a mix of red and white wines. Well explained in great English, lovely wines, very high quality whites and good reds. Quick tour of the cellars which was nice. Good value,.

Was with a tour group. The person in charge of our tour was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the house, as well as the changes with wine making technology over the years. The tasting was fairly standard, the whites are much btter then the reds, one or two bottles stuck out to us. As other posters have said, you are not getting the Grand Crus.

Hi wine lovers or people curious about Burgundy wine whilst passing through Chassagne-Montrachet. The building lured me in, I was with wife and kids (13 and 16). We just parked up and walked in. I love wine and would love to have seen the cellars etc but we were on route to Spain after a night in Meursault 3 miles away (awesome too!). Our experience at Famille Picard was perfect. I just wanted to learn some things and buy some wine and they totally passed the test, well Yohan did. What a lovely man Yohan is! Patient, knowledgable, good at advising and fun...he did not have to be but we (my family) loved Yohan - hence I spent a 1000 Euros on 18 beautiful bottles, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir....I have since read so much about the Famille Picard wines and region I am tempted to go back home the same way and stop there again!!! WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND visiting this house in Chassagne-Montrachet...*****/*****

We had a great wine tasting here! We came in at a time a few weeks after harvest and only wanted to do a tasting. The had great white wines and pretty good red wines. The white wines are really the best here, however. Our wine tasting server was very good and spoke great English. She was very knowledgeable about the area and taught us a great deal more than we expected. Definitely worth the stop.

Worth a visit because of the 11th century cellars and open view on the modern production facilities. Warm welcome by the female host. Enthousiastic and informative wine tasting by the young male host, in English and French. However the amount of wines that could be tasted were limited to 3 white and 2 red. We asked for only whites but this was the only combination possible. The wines we tried were not very special, and did not lead us to a personal favourite. Even if not neccessary, no Grand Cru was offered to try. We came to buy wine but ended up with leaving without, which is a shame considering the name of the house. After finishing the tasting our host had to move on to the next tasting immediately. To much of a commercial approach and missing that personal touch.

We did a wine tasting here after biking from nearby Puligny. We started by walking down through the caves. While impressive, I do wish we had someone to explain what all we were seeing.

We came back upstairs and had a private tasting since no one else was there (no reservations needed). The guy working was extremely knowledgeable and took a lot of time explaining to us the basics of the Burgundy region and how the wines got their names. It was a great first introduction to the area!

We really enjoyed their wines and they were probably our favorites of the day.

Accidentally passed by this chateau during bike tour. Nice tasting room with good choice also of older vintages. Premier cru tasting comprises of 5 wines which show the bandwidth at premier cru level. I liked them all much better than the ones at Chateau de Meursault at prices 10-20 Euros lower. Also good Saint Aubin Premier Cru wines are available. We tasted the En Remilly and were quite convinced.
Afterwards you can visit the ancient cellar by yourself. Really worth a little detour.

We really enjoyed discovering white Burgundy as in the States there is such a focus on Pinot Noir. We found the staff friendly and not bothered by speaking English. It was a great tour and explanation of wine making, history of Burgundy (including a cave from the 11th century) and declaration that California will probably stop producing Chardonnay in 10 years or less.
We had lunch which consisted of cheese, pate and bread as well as tasting delicious wines some of which we bought. The lunch was delicious and plentiful.

I first visited this wine tasting in about 1990. It was very friendly and welcoming. I have been back several times with friends over the years and bought good quality wines for laying down at reasonable prices.
On my most recent visit, it appears to have a new ownership. The staff were not very welcoming. The charge for the tasting was high. The wines available for tasting were limited. I asked to taste a particular wine (with a view to buying) but was told it was not available.
Previously, the former manager had offered me a tasting of grand cru wines, even though it was beyond my budget. He realised this and said "you will be able to afford it in a few years".
I would not go back and would no longer take friends there.
