What a fabulous experience! We were amazed to find the Mine was still open and possible to visit in December, having said that, the information said there needed to be four people to make the trip viable and as there were only two of us we were worried it may be cancelled! But no, it went ahead, our own private tour with Ben, who was incredibly professional, helpful and so enthusiastic about the mine and its history. It was a fascinating expedition and made two sixty somethings very happy!

We had an amazing underground experience last month as a group of 4 work colleagues from Select South West Tours. We know a great guide when we see one!! Ben is brilliant. He has great knowledge, a wonderful sense of humour and a highly professional approach to health and safety. He has immense passion for his subject and is an excellent communicator. Thanks for a most challenging, enjoyable and highly memorable day!

If you are thinking of your next experience with something different in mind, this could be the answer. Following the reassuring safety briefing and kitting up, the adventure started. But it was more than an adventure, as it also included history, geology, education and the vision of being there hundreds of years ago to earn a living (without modern equipment for comfort and safety). It is physical and challenging, and will take you out of your comfort zone, but with a cool head for small dark spaces, it’s safe under the guidance of Ben. The experience will be a memory keeper. Top tip - take some gloves, perhaps leather sailing gloves. Thank you, Laurence, Gerald, Gary and Remko.

Had the most amazing adventure in an old tin mine with cornwall underground adventures. We were greeted in the carpark by our guide Matt who was friendly and professional settling the excited nerves about the exploration to come. He provided an great level of interesting historical and geological information throughout the 3hr trip. It was well paced with time to learn and practice the climbing techniques as well as absorbing the ambiance of the mines. Absolutely mind blowing to traverse ravines and imagine to miners working there. It was a bit physically challenging at points but not difficult. Members of our group were mildly worried they might not like the heights and enclosed spaces but were thrilled by the experience not scared. Sitting in complete darkness was my favourite experience.
The underground adventurer which we completed was good value for money and we will go again to complete the full day explorer, it was that amazing!

Recommended the company and experience by a colleague and it absolutely did NOT disappoint. The booking process was easy and the website very helpful with selecting the right experience for fitness level and climbing experience. Communication was fantastic throughout, prompt and clear and all the relevant information made very accessible, such as dress code, supplies to bring, what to expect, and especially where to meet for the tour which is a remote location. Ben, who conducted the tour, was an absolute delight - friendly, enthusiastic, safe and so so knowledgeable. Our group was particularly interested in the mining history of the area and there wasn’t a question Ben couldn’t answer, he satisfied a lot of curious minds. The mine was fascinating and a really great thing to experience, ours was a birthday trip and my Dad had the most memorable day you could ask for. Cannot recommend highly enough, our group will definitely be back for a more advance level trip. Thank you so so much Ben!

Wow! What an amazing mine exploring experience this was! Ben gave us a comprehensive history of mining in the area and upskilled us for the challenge of moving confidently underground. Ben was constantly attentive to the needs of our group and our welfare - a cracking good tour! We’ll definitely be coming back for some more mining adventures in the future! Many thanks, Ben!

Had a really great time. Everything was really well planned and organised. A really nice balance of informative history of the mines and the physical challenge of exploring. I would highly recommend to anyone that wants to see a unique side of Cornwall, I will absolutely be booking again for the adventurer level experience!!!

WOW! What a fantastic and thrilling experience this was. I was sensibly apprehensive taking my fifteen year old daughter underground, but Ben, our guide was such a great guy who was so friendly and put us both at ease with his amazing local and national knowledge which really helped to reassure us.
I don't want to give much away, because believe me it's far more exciting than you might think, and better having lower expectations before you go.
I can honestly say if you like to do thrill things and want something different then DO THIS - it is AWESOME!!
As for value for money, it's the best value for money experience I have done so far, in all my years holidaying in Cornwall.

Fantastic day with our tour guide Ben who was totally professional and kept our safety foremost.
Bens passion for the history of the mines kept us enthralled the whole time.. his knowledge was amazing and our 11 & 13 year olds were engaged for the duration of the trip.
Ben’s kindness and tolerance went above and beyond especially towards a mid 50ish year old woman who isn’t as slim or as fit as she used to be.
We loved our time with Ben and learned loads about Cornish tin mining spanning the last 500years.
The great highlight that ended our tour was abseiling into a mine… something I never thought I would do!
Many thanks Ben, it was an incredible day love & gratitude Rodney & Cathy and of course Lexi & Fred.

This was an exhilarating adventure through the mine I booked two group sessions
One for younger scouts 10 to 14 and they had a great time and wish to return when next in Cornwall
The other group 14 plus and leaders including myself had the most amazing underground mind blowing trip
My thanks to Ben and Martin amazing guys for seeing us safely through the mine exploration, explaining history and generally ensuring well being of all participants

I am 6 ft 1 inches tall and it was all ok. There were even 2 or 3 places where I could stand up straight ;)
It's sometimes narrow, but your guide will show you the ways ;)
