Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. In the middle of a pristine forest, you'll find this amazing waterfalls! This is where Greystoke the legend of Tarzan was filmed in 1982. It will leave you breathless. You only hear the noises of the falls and the forest. A true jewel. If somehow they manage to exploit it, they'll make tons of money but it will surely lose its charm!

These waterfalls were featured in the movie Tarzan: Greystroke and are among the most beautiful in Cameroon. The micro-climate of the valley encourages year round growth of wild flowers giving this a truly romantic feel.

Unfortunately, criminal elements sometimes operate nearby. Youths will also sometimes block roads and claim a "toll". This is partly because the wealth generated by the visitor fees are not always shared equitably with locals.

You have to register at a visitor center just before the falls. There is a small fee to visit and for a required local guide. You may also be followed by other guides and local children. They won't bother you on your visit, but they will somehow expect to be compensated for sharing your visit. It's up to you whether you give them anything, but when you do, it encourages them to continue the practice which is off-putting to many tourists.

The falls are best visited during the rainy season or just after--when the falls are at their fullest. But any time is good.

Wear good hiking shoes and casual clothes--the paths are VERY slippery. But that's what makes the wild flowers bloom year round, so consider it a mixed blessing.

If the guide takes you to the top of the falls, be careful. They sometimes choose a path on the boulders right next to the river where they are comfortable but where you may be unfamiliar. There are NO barriers up there. One slip and you could go over the falls--we opted for a slightly safer path and the guide just shrugged and smiled. Again, your choice but accidents like this happen everyday in Cameroon, so use some caution.

Mighty wonder of nature! We also did the hike to the bottom of the falls, which is really not so easy so prepare the right shoes and clothing that may get dirty! ;)

I loved the Ekom-Nkam Waterfalls. They are such a jewel in the heart of Cameroon! This is a gorgeous waterfalls in par with any in the world; they just confirmed the beauty of this country. It is particularly beautiful in the rainy season,.. in reality, they are twin falls, one male and one female, and then there are other twin falls less than 100 m from the main ones. These waterfalls were featured in the Tarzan movie. The fauna and flora around the area is very rich. They are simply outstanding. Totally worth your time and money!

The falls are really spectacular. Allow yourself sufficient time (3 hours+) and bring your pick nick. In rainy season the falls are even more impressive, however then it is not possible to go down to the river and swim. At the park entrance there is a good possibility to camp. Nearby restaurant is friendly and provides good food.

While the waterfalls themselves are not huge, they are numerous, and can be viewed from above, next to, below, and another set for those who do not venture down the long stairs.

Impressive waterfalls, unique landscape. I would combine it with a trip to the crater lakes in Melong.

From Douala I took the Nkongsamba Express to Nkongsamba (4,500 cfa). The journey takes a little over 3 hours. I arrive at a gas station where the motor taxis are already waiting. I was lucky and met Blaise (+237 674410151), who speaks English and is also a guide at the waterfall. For 10,000 cfa (I could have bargained for it), he drove me to the waterfall, was my guide and drove me back. Entry to the waterfall costs 3,500 cfa. Blaise also took photos. The visit takes about 1 hour and you have to climb a few stairs.
I liked the waterfalls a lot. I would go there again.

Blaise recommended another bus to me on the way back, which leaves from near the gas station: Easy Express - I think. The journey only cost 3,000 cfa. By the way, the Kilimanjaro Cafe is also nearby - they have delicious sandwiches.
