Very interesting to see these ancient things. It is an easy boardwalk with good info on how these rock like things have been formed. Just south of Perth, visit it when you are heading south, small detour.

Recommend visit to this spot (heading to Mandurah). Good parking near pathway to jetty, lake and the ancient sea- rock formations (Thrombolites). Although these Thrombolites can be seen in other places, this lakeside setting is a lovely and tranquil place to visit.

Lovely boardwalk to viewing platform of the lake, excellent sunset photos and two kangaroos jumped across the path right in front of us! These thrombolite algal mounds have been living unchanged for over 2 billion years (that's 2,000,000,000 years)! One of Earth's very first life...More
