On bikes, my husband and I appreciated the poignancy of the many cycling artifacts left at the shrine in memory of cyclists who have passed on. Then we wasted an hour looking for the bike museum which may be near Lake Como many miles from...More

We cheated... we rode a bus! We caught the bus to Asso from Bellagio (tickets from Bar San Remo) and got off at Ghisallo. The trip was rather hair raising but soooo pretty. The views back down to Bellagio and across towards Varenna were stunning....More

First confession - I didn’t want to go here. Second confession- my husband’s family are obsessed with cycling. Right, that said half the party didn’t know anything about cycling and still enjoyed it immensely. The museum is a fascinating collection of bikes and photos about...More

My wife indulged me and accompanied me on a pilgrimage to this holy site of bicycling. Literally. In 1945 the Pope proclaimed The Madonna di Ghisallo as the Paton saint of cyclists. The climb itself is not long, but the 14-15% sections will get your...More

My husband rode there on his bike and I met him by car - we didn't even know that this existed before arriving Varenna and I'm so happy that we found it. It is a must see for cycling enthusiasts and there's a cool little...More
