Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Many don’t know about this place. I only found out from a friend as well. Great place to visit with lots of history to it. We took a guided tour which is free and they take you to their renovated hotel and surrounding areas. The tour guide is very knowledgeable about the history, paintings and plants.

We took a picnic lunch followed up with a walking tour of the grounds, which included the hacienda and the grounds.
Very serene and peaceful, this would not be a vacation destination for us, but found it to be a great way to spend a quiet afternoon.
If you’ve got some down time while in the Puebla area and want to unwind in a natural setting, this lovely place is just right.

40 pesos granted us entrance to this beautiful and serene park area. Turns out the four-story building housed foreign agricultural teachers as living quarters back in the day. There is no place to sit in, near or around the building. Directly behind however is an outdoor, covered restaurant that was great for a snack and a cerveza. They accept credit cards and pesos but no U.S. dollars.

It's an option with a hotel but you can only visit the estate facilities with all the family and with many options to have fun such as fishing, zip line, navigate in the lake and of course, there's a restaurant that we didn't try but it seems to be ok. You can go upstairs to have beautiful views from the place and it's really cheap all the activities. Please be aware to use all the sanitary measurements to avoid covid19, such as masks and gel

Made a 2hs stop in our way back from Puebla to DF. Very nice and upscale place, with a hotel (looks nice, but did not stay there), casual shopping outdoors and a very nice restaurant (I inly had snacks so cannot comment on the food). You can walk around to the “castle” which is really a nice old house, but we could only visit the terrace that has a nice view but no access to the interior of the house. There also outdoors activities like pedal boats and a tyrolean. Worth the visit.

The hotel is not worth the price. The service is bad in the restaurant. I spent 30 minutes waiting for someone to attend. And another 45 minutes to be served. While you can see plenty waiters just standing there. The rooms are not so beautiful and I did not have energy the last morning. Requested explanation and nobody gave a reason, no discount, no apology.
Non the less the Hacienda is beautiful, the gardens are a dream as well as the lake and the castle. It is worth going just to be there.

I stayed one night with my sister and my daughter, decoration is so beautiful, we went up to the tower for an amazing view and rented a pedal boat which was a great idea, recommended. Food was yummy, we took the buffet for breakfast and lunner. One thing they can improve is service at the receptionist level, when we arrived she didn't offer any map or directions for pur room until I asked, same with luggage , she did not ask if I needed any help , nothing about amenities .. like she assumed I already knew it, I had to find out my self about tours, restaurant and pool. Bed was not the most comfy one, I think it needs a change because you can feel the springs.

Awesome mini castle from the 19th century, the set up is very European and the whole thing is well conserved, lots of things to do as well as options for camping or staying at the very nice hotel there

Really interesting place to visit and learn some of the history of the area and Mexico. Guide was great and very informative. The Gillow house is beautiful. The new hotel is very posh but good for understanding the past and future of Mexico.
