Beautiful beach worth the climb, but be careful and don’t wear flip flops
We (a group of 8 friends) took a ferry from Serangan pier - it took about 1.5 h to Nusa penida and about 50 mins back. Then we rented scooters nearby and had a really nice drive to Kelingking beach. It was a nice view from the top, but looking down some of friends scared and didn’t want to go down to the beach (as 90 % of people) and one was scared of heights. Me and two friends went down anyway. The path is very very steep which makes it especially hard to walk/climb downhill. You sometimes have to wait for people going up as there is enough space only for one person on the path. You get dirty, dusty and scared for your life. However, when you come down it is totally worth it! The beach is not crowded, there is some nice shadow, you can buy some drinks and refresh in the sea (even though the current is too strong for swimming). Path down took us about 40 mins, but we were up in 20 - it is much easier to go up. If you only have limited time (one day trip) know that with hiking to the beach you will probably only have enough time to see this one beach (we were driving to Crystal bay afterwards but we only stayed there a couple of minutes - the beach is not as beautiful as Kelingking). Also on the way back the roads were crazy busy with cars and it was hard to ride the scooters. We managed to find one empty road so we could safely return to the pier. It was a fun trip overall :) Ps. Don’t wear flip flops or sandals for hiking to the beach! You will have to walk barefoot sooner or later. Bring sneakers.

    Best View of Bali
Kelingking beach absolutely lived up to all of the hype that it received on Instagram; this beach is incredible. The views were like something out of a movie, both from the cliffs that looked out over the water and from the trail that led down to the beach. It can get fairly heated, so going early in the day is highly recommended if you want to avoid the crowds. The island of Nusa Penida is well worth the time and effort required to get there. If you want to get a better look at this T-rex, climb a little higher up on the hill. There are various photo shooting spots available for you to snap the greatest photos, but in order to access, you will need to purchase some refreshments or food first. Sadly, there is trash scattered throughout the bushes in every direction. We can only hope that those who go there and those who are responsible for running and maintaining those locations become more aware of it.

    Best Beach in Bali
Outside of Bali, this is one of the most beautiful spots in the world. Every traveller ought to make a point of visiting Nusa Penida. Amazing locations on land and in the water to snorkel with manta rays and other marine life. The most enjoyable ones are Kelingking and Broken Beach.

Keep it the way it is
The steps leading to the beach is a task not to be taken lightly & is not for those who are not active …. The initial steps are well done but after a bit it gets challenging & tricky. If u instead to go down to the beach make sure u have plenty of water & a min 1 hr break before you climb back to the top. Take time to find your breath and don’t carry unwanted things. Wish they leave the step the way they are, never improve them … make it more difficult so less ppl can go down…. Sometimes should be left along … or else we will destroy it. Beautiful & clean beach

    Amazing view
One of the best views on Nusa Penida (together with Diamond Beach and Broken Beach). Definitely worth a visit if you are visiting Nusa Penida. Don’t bother going anywhere else, besides the above mentioned.

A must go to if you’re on Nusa Penida
after a 30 min boat ride from mainland Bali we rented motorbike and Checked into our bungalow. We rode another 45 minutes to get this magical beach where people come from all over the world to take pictures here and you’ll see why. To get down to the beach itself, you have to take bit of a treacherous hike down a steep mountain. However there’s handrails to help guide you so you don’t die. Even for my fitness level, there are parts that are really challenging After the hike down you are rewarded with heaven on earth. The beach itself is also Another great photo opportunity, and there’s not many people. However there are huge waves so if you’re not that fit I wouldn’t recommend going into the ocean. As the sun started to set we began our hike back up the cliff side, but a the same time still snapping shots of the sunset. When you arrive at the top, you’re rewarded with another picturesque paradise and another great photo opportunity to catch the sunset.

    Well worth the climb
You’ve all seen the views from the top but not that many people venture down to the beach. But you should do! Okay it looks like a scary climb but take it slowly and it’s actually much easier than it looks. The beach is simply lovely and as most people are scared by the climb it’s not that full. When we visited there were no more than 20 people on the beach and we were proud that we were the only ones in our 50s who had dared to make the climb! Go early in the morning if you can. There were a lot more people making the trip down when we were climbing back up.

Stay Quiet and let beauty do the talking here.
The Kelingking Beach offers stunning panoramic views and crystal-clear turquoise waters. It's a popular spot for photography and hiking down to the beach. It’s unique cliff formation resembles the shape of a T-Rex dinosaur. This distinctive cliff has made the beach a popular spot for photography. The hike down the steep and rocky cliff to reach the beach is challenging. The hike takes around 30-40 minutes, but the stunning views along the way make it worth the effort. This is not for young children. Currents in the sea are strong and one has to be a very good swimmer to swim here. Great place in Bali that is simply wonderful to see.

Beautiful but dangerous and strong waves!
This is indeed one of the most beautiful beach with blue water and golden sand. But, please be very very careful. Firstly, the hike up and down is tricky and dangerous. It's worth if you can do the climb and if you manage to hike down then be very very careful of the strong currents. DO NOT venture near the waters! Before going there, I saw number of videos and my only focus was on to the hike down and up. I was glad that we were able to get down and thought of enjoying the water. But, the waves were so strong that we fell in the water but managed to come out of the water but with difficulty. I wouldn't have gone near the water if I'd known about the strong wave situation before going or if there were any warnings signs (or may be I missed seeing the warning signs). Word of caution - Don't go near the water, its dangerous! Happy Travelling, PG

    Not bad
It’s a beautiful view and lookout location with monkeys nearby as well. The downside is the amount of people clamoring for that perfect IG shot. Also they’re in the process of building a glass elevator system that will take you directly down to the beach, ugh.

Kelingking beach definitely lived up to all the Instagram hype - this beach is unreal! From the cliffs overlooking the sea and the hike down to the beach, the views were something out of a movie.

It gets quite warm and would recommend going early in the day to beat the crowds. Definitely worth the trip to Nusa Penida island!!

We arrived to Kelingking at around 8:00 in the morning to get a great start to the day (also because of the tide tables to maximize time on the beach!!!) We were one of two groups of people there and it was amazing (Keep in mind this was during the first ramp up of COVID-19 lockdowns, so our crowd experience is probably skewed). We sat at the top and took pictures for maybe 10 minutes with just us until the other couple and us started the hike down. The hike for experienced and sure-footed people can take around 20-25 minutes if you're not stopping along the way for pictures. We stopped for pictures and to help eachother with VERY steep parts of the hike down.
As we got to the bottom, we saw the monkeys! They didn't mess with much of our things, but there was at least one person next to the bags and shoes the entire time because they initally ran right up to us and waited for us to leave something alone.
The beach was perfect and tide was not too hard to swim against, The climb back up was where things started to take their toll. We stopped multiple times on the hike back up, (it didn't get less steep, and with us being wet and tired made the stops feel longer). By this time, other tourists were hiking down and the path isn't meant for that many people!! At one point we were still hanging on the rocks to let people through that were hiking down and clearly weren't prepared for an extensive, steep hike.

Climb up a bit to the hill to get the full picture of this T-rex. There are some photo taking spot for you to take the best spot but you need to buy drinks or food to enter.
Sadly you can see rubbish all around the bushes. Hopefully people who visit there or who ever run and taking care that places can be more aware about it.

Stunning views, can get very busy.
We visited via a private tour using Warung Coconut, great value tour and extremely helpful guide. It is quite a steep trek down to the actual beach if you decide to venture down. The views from the cliffs above are absolutely beautiful. There are a selection of cafe bars at the top. Well worth a visit if you are on the island. The roads are very narrow to get there, so highly recommend using a private tour.

Kelingking Beach is arguably one of the most popular stops on Nusa Penida. It is located on the southwest coast of the island (about a 30-minute drive from Toya Pakeh Harbour).

You have to pay a fee of 5,000 IDR for parking, which can be chaotic dependent upon how many other vehicles are there at the same time.

It’s then about a five minute walk, along a well worn but rough path - which has a series of shacks, selling hats, food, coconuts and ice cream, to the coastal cliff.

The view from the top provides the most enchanting views of the island's coastline, where steep cliffs are greeted by crystal blue water. The safety at Kelingking is reliant on the bamboo railings. At many points along the cliff edge, there is no rail whatsoever and the grass just leads you off the edge, down hundreds of metres onto the rocks. A trip to Kelingking Beach can last anywhere from 10 minutes, if you are just there to take photos or have an Instagram moment, to over 3 hours, if you are up for the intense hike down (takes about 60 mins to get down to the beach and slightly longer to get back up). Whilst the beach looked so inviting the climb down and back looked exhausting.

It is a spectacular view, which you share with hundreds of other tourists, but if you’ve travelled all the way to Nusa Penida then this is one of those iconic spots you need to visit.

One of the best spots in Nusa Penida. Amazing views, make sure to get there early. Luckily we got there around 10 am and there was no queue, only a few people walking up and down. Make sure to take some comfortable shoes. We took flip flops and we had to be very careful. If you are looking to go all the way down to the beach it will take you around 30/40 minutes so be prepared for the time of your life. The stairs going down are very narrow and you have to watch your step. The stairs are pretty crowded with people coming up and going down. If you are afraid of heights or if you don't have good balance I wouldn't recommend. This does require some level of fitness but once you get down, you will encounter the most amazing sand. Just watch out for the waves as they are very strong and they can pull you in. I would not recommend swimming in these waters. Perfect place for those Instagram pics!

The most important
A very tough descent to the beach, at first there are normal steps, then there are vertical sections where you move like a rock climber. It’s realistic to pass for average physical training, with certain conditions
1. Visiting time. Don't go after 11. It's unbearably hot, the descent takes 40-60 minutes. Narrow paths, part of the time you just stand, as people walk in both directions all day.
I don’t see any point in going after 16. You can’t really see the sunset from the beach, the view is better from above, and getting back up is in the dark. We arrived at 8 am and spent the whole day there until 4 pm, this was the best option.
2. What to take for the descent.
- Good shoes are a must, ideally sneakers or sneakers; sandals are very dangerous. Since I was unprepared, it turned out to be easier to go down barefoot at the end. If you twist your ankle there, it’s unclear how they’ll get you out of there.
- water
- if you still go after 16, then a headlamp. There isn’t much of an option to hold a flashlight in your hands
3. Waves on the beach. Be very careful. We were told that on this side of the island there are very treacherous currents and waves, you definitely can’t swim, people are jumping in the waves near the shore, I think it’s ok. There are several articles about those killed by the waves on this beach.
4. What to eat on the beach
This is a very beautiful place. There are very few people in the morning, then there are more, but it’s quite comfortable. There is one “mini market”, bananas for 120 rubles each and other small expensive delights. We agreed back so that the guy from this store would carry all our things and we climbed lightly

Overall the place is amazing. And the feeling that you have overcome this steep descent adds some kind of pleasure to being there. It’s good if you have time to be there, I wouldn’t just go down to take a photo.

We have long wanted to visit this magnificent place. Be prepared for the fact that it is very hot here.
We really enjoyed the view of cool colors of water and nature. There are a lot of tourists here, and sometimes you have to wait if you want to make a photo at some points. Also you can go down to the beach, but it's a hard way and we did it.
