Quiet and Impressive ! The beatiful acid water pond and the industrial ruins worth the visit. And is close to a fantastic river beach ! (Barragem da Tapada Grande). I Highly recomend a visit, in this not crowded spot (in June...)

I was here last week, a great place to explore and enjoy. The mines are very accessible, and in fact I entered a Roman mine for a look around. Not a place for the fearful though, this is Indiana Jones stuff! Health and safety? Don't...More

Just a perfect natural feeling place to enjoy life and summer holidays. My son loved it and we had a wonderful time on and out the warm and calm water!

Interesting place to visit. The mine has been abandoned since the 60s and left to crumble. Not only do the decaying buildings make great photo ops but also the landscape itself. Because of the minerals in the soil the rivers and shallow lakes are brown,...More

Worth a look about this large mine which closed in 1964. The sent the ore by rail to pomaro on the guadiana and then down to Ayemonte or Villa Real de Sao Antonio to be shipped to England, polluting the whole rive in the process.
