Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Was looking forward to a peaceful trip on the canal. The pilot made stupid remarks about kayakers not knowing what they were doing then talked loudly over the engine, incessantly to his friend for the entire trip. Got to hear some bird song for about the only thirty seconds that he stopped talking.

In the last day of our holiday, we splashed out on a private boat trip along the Chelmer & Blackwater canal leaving from Heybridge Basin. It was worth every penny. Thank you to Sarah Phillips who organised the trip at such short notice. The lovely lady at the Daisy Meadow kiosk (great egg & bacon breakfast bap!) & of course our crew. They were so friendly & knowledgeable. It was the perfect ending to our holiday. Scenic, Peaceful & so so relaxing. We were lucky to see swans with their cygnets, ducks & family & moorhens & their family. Highly recommended. The crew are all voluntary and are very proud of their role whether it be painting the locks, sharing information about the cruises & navigating the boat. If you can, please make a donation. They are a great team. Thank you

It was a stormey day, our boat trip up the Blackwater Canal was fantastic. Beautiful scenery and very tranquil . Well worrth a trip. Easy free parking at Daisy Meadow car park. Food and refreshments can be purchased at the Kiosk adjacent to the boat.
The boat has an on board toilet if needed. This boat is available for groups to hire.
Booking in advance strongly recommended.

A great way to while away an afternoon pottering up the river chelmer to beleigh and back, a mini slow cruise along the canal taking in the wonderful sights of this magnificent waterway steeped in history of a bygone age of horse drawn barges taking a multitude of goods from the sea lock at heybridge to the town of Chelmsford.
Skipper is very knowledgeable in the history and will provide a running dicussion along the way.
Superb day out

We have thoroughly enjoyed this first season taking guests for trips and/or charters from Heybridge Basin. The excellent comments from all our passengers have been much appreciated and we hope to see you joining us next Spring or before we finish this year at the end of this half-term week.
