    Beautiful community-run cenote
Really fabulous and beautiful cenote which has been painstakingly restored by the local community back to its former natural glory, and with steps down to the cenote, showers, changing rooms, bathrooms, and a small restaurant/bar. The place is run by 16 people from the local community and proceeds are split between them and other community projects in the village. I suspect we got there at peak time with a slow but steady trickle of visitors from nearby Chichen Itza but we initially had the place to ourselves (around noon) and it certainly didn’t become crowded as I’ve heard other cenotes can be. The panuchos at the restaurant were excellent! My only slight gripe is the mandatory use of life jackets which seems a little over-cautious , but I understand that is due to the liability of the owners if anything were to go wrong.

    Hidden gem! Loved it
Hidden Gem! So much quieter and peaceful than other large cenotes. Not too tiktok famous yet which is a good thing. Absolutely stunning and great history, being cleared and maintained by local village. Simply beautiful

    Refreshing and not too busy.
Awesome Cenote that was just what we needed after a trip to Chichen Itza. The cenote wasn’t too busy, even with a tour bus there. After we were done we were able to grab a quick bite with some tasty chicken empanadas.

    large and beautiful
I visited this cenote as part of an Intrepid tour. It costs 150 Pesos per person and has a changing room, restaurant, and toilet. It is mandatory to shower before entering the cenote to keep it pristine. I swam and floated and bird watched. It was peaceful and beautiful. Previous reviewers mentioned zipline and rappel, but those activties were not visible/available during my visit.

We wanted a quiet cenote but with facilities, life jackets and a life guard. There were max 10 people in the water and at times we were the only ones. Really magical.

Unlike Ik Kil, there is little sign of human alteration to the cenote once you are inside - the steep staircase is carved straight out of the rock and the stalactites are still intact.

There's a great little restaurant doing authentic Yacatan food - the panuchos were particularly good.

All of the staff (cenote and restaurant) were super friendly.

Brilliant example of a stunning cenote.

Not only a wow place, but it seems to be well run, well maintained with decent facilities. Only $M150 each (I think !)

Easy to find right in the middle of the village, just off the main road and a free car park.

Changing rooms, well maintained walkways and a small restaurant. Plus a 'lifeguard' there too.

There's quite a lot of steps down but once you get down the cenote itself is just stunning! A wide open (not cave) cenote surrounded by stunning rock formations and hanging vines.

Such a picturesque scene.

When we arrived there were about a dozen people there. Within 15 minutes we had the whole place to ourselves. Simply magical !!!

Definately one worth visiting !

This place was a real oasis! The cenotes was beautiful with lots of fish and the surroundings were heavenly. The lunch place served the most amazing guacamole I've ever had and just outside of the entrance you could buy essential oils and get Mayan massage – definitely recommend!

It was first time to visit a cenote and it could not have been better. Rent a car and drove the one and a half with no issues. Parking is very limited but got lucky. Worth the trip and $300 pesos for two.

Yokdzonot couldn't be further removed from the tour bus trail of jazzed up cenote theme parks that cost $50 USD upwards.

Set up by locals using their own labour, the cenote is run for their benefit.

The water is crystal clear, about 45m deep and teeming with fish. Swallows nest in crevices in the walls and the overall effect is charming. The water is pretty warm at about 26°C and when we swam we had the entire place to ourselves. The children were fascinated.

There are changing rooms on site, a nice little garden around the cenote and a perfectly serviceable restaurant serving inexpensive Mexican and Mayan staples. The total cost to a family of five including lunch? $600 or so pesos. Outstanding value.

This Cenote was part of our tour. I didn’t plan on swimming but decided it may be my only chance to do it ever so I went for it. Wonderful decision was just refreshing and just amazing experience. Beautiful spot definitely stop here.
