This is a very informative museum, commemorating the sacrifice of Australians who have died in war. 'Australia in the Great War' is the newest permanent exhibition and truly is world class. Stop by if you're interested, there's plenty to see and learn.

I've been there before for specific exhibitions, but this time took the guided tour that lasted for about 90 minutes. One of the best guided tours I have been on: the guide using specific people and objects to explain much broader issues. My advice is to take a guided tour and then spend an hour or two extra. The tour... More

An excellent museum with outstanding displays on the history of Australia at war. It's exhibits detail the damage, losses and horrors of war with interactive displays as well as art works and photographs. A must see when in Canberra

The AWM is a great place to visit, spend the day and experience an amazing history. It has been upgraded over about 15 years and the kids will absolutely love it. Make the visit when in Canberra, it is worth it!

Incredible FREE attraction...and I mean probably the best I've seen in the whole of Australia. This amazing place is jam packed full of history, artefacts, memorabilia, audio visuals, presentations, hands-on exhibits for kids, aircraft for enthusiasts...you name it. There are guides to assist/direct, there are toilets and a café. The memorial is spacious, modern, well lit and suitable for wheelchairs.... More

We're so honoured by your positive review. It does take quite some time to see everything on display and discover so many stories of our servicemen and women. Next time we recommend a free tour, which gives you a great overview of all of our exhibits and galleries, particularly if you're pressed for time. We look forward to having you... More

You need a whole day here, admittedly I went to research as well as look around but a half day was not long enough. Also as I have a relative who's name is on the wall I was advised that I could lay a wreath at the last post ceremony that is conducted every day. It is a very special... More

Yes, this is one of the best museums of its type I have been to. The entrance and surrounding garden is fabulous. The memorial / reflection area is amazing. The galleries are just superb. Great for an NZer who has visited Gallipoli to read the story from the Australian side too. Loved the airplane hangar and the display of the... More
