Overview
More
Lanyon Homestead lies at the foot of the Brindabella Ranges and is one of Australia’s premier historic properties. The Precinct’s centrepiece, the 1850's Homestead, has been beautifully restored and furnished. Set within superb gardens the Lanyon includes an historic homestead and outbuildings sited within a working rural property. Sheep and cattle still graze on the timbered hills and fertile banks of the Murrumbidgee river. Admission includes a guided tour of the Homestead. Lanyon also offers a range of exciting community and learning programs and special events. We also provide unique venues for weddings, anniversaries and other celebrations. The enticing Lanyon Cafe has spectacular views and is a popular destination for week day luncheons and a weekend breakfast.

Reasonably small tourist attraction but really friendly staff, interesting attraction and great food at the cafe. Iced coffee was particularly impressive. Good introduction into an important part of Australian history.

The children and I had a great time exploring the various convict built buildings. The main house and many of the buildings have been maintained in 1800's style. There are numerous buildings scattered throughout the property that contain displays of artefacts and tools, with explanation...More

Lovely little look into a bit of Australia's pastoral past. Good spot for lunch and a quick walk through the homestead.

This homestead is interesting as it shows what it was like 100 years ago. It has interesting period furniture. The cafe is a great place for lunch.

Nice sunny afternoon strolling around at the homestead, breathing in the fresh country air. This place gives you an idea how early settlers were living. There is a cafe to pause with a hot drink and cake.

Took a trip out to this homestead - about 40 minutes from the centre of Canberra. It is situated up a gravel road from the main road and is no problem for any vehicle in the dry. Much in the house is as it was...More
