Come to the Mint, where every single Australian coin in the pockets of millions of Australians is made!

While wandering through the Mint's observation gallery you can look into the coin production factory and marvel at Titan, one of our great family of robots who help out with all the heavy lifting.

Spend some time in the theatrette where a video will take you behind the scenes to explain the fascinating process of making coins.

Check out the rare and historically significant coins on show from the National Coin Collection, which is held in the vaults of the Mint.

Mint your own collectable coin and browse the Mint Coin Shop where you can find great gifts, mementos of your visit or even start your own collection!

We offer free public tours twice daily Monday- Friday and three times daily on the weekends.

For a limited time only, private Tours of the Stuart Devlin - The Designer with the Midas Touch exhibition will run Monday - Friday at 11am and 3pm until the end of April 2017.

Came to see the Stuart Devlin exhibition which was great. Watch the slide show which shows the full breadth of his output. Lucky enough to time our visit with a guided tour which was really fascinating. If you want to see the mint in action need to go on a week day

The mint is a fully working design and manufacturing facility that also caters very well for tourists and the many school groups they have visiting. This is where the coins in your pocket were made! The arrangement on the first floor allows you to watch the processes involved in making coins – but not bank notes, which are made somewhere... More

Who would have thought that a building that makes our coins would be such an engaging place of interest. We spent a few hours here wandering around and took advantage of the free tour on offer, Our guide Stephen was absolutely brilliant. He has a wealth of knowledge about the history of our coins and so entertaining and engaging that... More

Thanks for visiting. We always believe that a visit to the Mint will (and should) make people realise just how much of an impact coins have had on them. We know that we can always rely on Stephen (and our other guides) to help people have that discovery! More

You can self guide (with a map of course) and watch everything in action (talk about transparent). There is a free guided tour. There are some wonderful pieces (triangular coins - yes really). The shop offers some very good selections, and of course you can make your own coin. The cafe is basic but sufficient and the staff are wonderful...and... More

We thought that the mint was a great place to go and see on our visit to Canberra. We did the public tour of the mint and enjoyed hearing about the history of our currency. Well worth a visit! Lots of interesting things to see.
