We enjoyed a great tour led by Anne, who was very knowledgeable on The Rocks and Sydney in general. We visited the lanes and buildings that you wouldn't otherwise know are there, and it was very good to have Anne's explanation of how the remaining ruins of the old houses fitted together and worked. It was also good to know... More

Despite having grown up in Sydney, I had never been to so many out-of-the-way places and sights, in a different history perspective of The Rocks. Our guide retained a freshness in her presentation and enthusiasm that topped off an instructive and entertaining walkabout.

We tend to be a bit more on our toes with a local as we all have some ownership of the story of this unique area of Sydney. We are so pleased that our guide was able to add another layer to your knowledge of The Rocks and that you enjoyed it, to boot! More

We took this tour our first day in Sydney, and it was a great historical introduction to the city. The guide met us at the hotel and as we walked to the rocks area she gave us some great restaurant and tourist recommendations. Our guide was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and able to answer all the questions we had. You could... More

Our Tour of the Rocks with guide Helen was awesome! There was so much about the Rocks and Sydney Harbour that we would have never known if we didn't do this. Helen was very knowledgable and showed us all the great spots, including pointing out other 'history' activites to do after the tour or on another day. The tour was... More

This was our second visit to Sydney and my wife had wanted to do this tour the first time around, but we ran out of time. Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
