Neighbourhood: Newtown
A Bohemian inner-west suburb known for its alternative music scene, Newtown is a diverse community offering a multitude of restaurants, art galleries, performance spaces, thrift stores and bars. Home of some of the best live music venues in the city, shows can be found everywhere from the official theatres to the neighbourhood pubs. From its humble beginnings as a neighbourhood primarily known for its many Thai restaurants, Newtown has evolved into a foodie's paradise with a delightful array of highly innovative cuisines from around the world. Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fascinating slice of colonial history in the heart of The Rocks/
The remains of several old houses provide an insight into how difficult life must have been at that tome. The tiny houses give testimony to how families libed in early 19th Century Sydney. Remember that the average couple had between 4 and 10 children.
Worth a visit.

This park is a magical place in the historic Rocks area of Sydney.
Remnants of tenement houses with furniture to make them come to life.
See how cramped living conditions were. Open day and night.

Foundation Park is a gem displaying foundations of homes long past. There are replica furniture pieces to give an idea of room sizes together with original steps, trees and plumbing.

Tucked away in the back streets of Sydney's oldest streets, this small park with a difference is worth checking out. It would be a nice place to enjoy a bite to eat, if you've taken a picnic or grabbed some takeaway.
