Everyone said it's the nicest beach in Sydney. It may be but humans are making it ugly. It was completely littered with rubbish and no one seemed to be bothered by it. I was sadly disappointed.

Really enjoyed our time at Manly Beach. We took a hop-on hop-off Ferry using our iVenture card to Manly and spent the day there. Fun waves to splash around in, plenty of shopping and cafe's nearby for a break, surboard lessons if you wanted, and I rented a body board. The white sand is fantastic and really fine, which makes... This is a lovely beach. Not overcrowded. Wide paths, plenty of seating in and out of the sun. Forget Bondai beach (only go there to tick the box).

The world famous Manly Beach is interesting only for the beach bunnies. Otherwise, it is pretty much like any other beach.

We felt Manly beach was much more impressive than Bondi. A short walk through the town from the Manly east Wharf ferry port brings you out at this impressive beach. The beach shelves steeply so it perfect for surfers but only suitable for swimming in one small marked area. Great for sunbathing and wide range of shops and restaurants. Pleasant... More

From Sydney, go North for the world's best beaches. Manly is a vast golden stretch of scrupulously clean sand. Big enough to absorb huge crowds on sunny days. Surf can vary in power. For a calmer, more kiddie-friendly spot, take the lovely Marine Parade walk around to Shelly Beach. 15 minutes at a gentle pace.

Staying in Manly

Neighbourhood Profile
Manly
A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbour Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.
