Nice place and lovely beach

Good place and less busy than Bondi. Nice places to eat and we stayed at the Coogee beach sands hotel and apartments which was very good.

Fantastic walk to this beautiful beach, and then an easy bus ride back. You can go back to Bondi, or directly to DT Sydney. Very nice beach, with plenty of food and cafes around.

Honestly, we were not planning to come here... but can I say that we're glad we did? It's honestly a better beach than Bondi! It's less crowded, which I find less stressful. There's still a perfectly good beach and you can do whatever you want!

I walked here from Bondi and passed a few spectacular surfing beaches and bays on the way. There are lifeguards and no surf boards. There was quite a surf up which meant you could really enjoy the waves. Then water was not as warm as I expected for late November but was very refreshing after my long walk.

When a beach has free parking, that's a bonus, getting a space is a real bonus. Seriously, what's not to love about Coogee, it's a lovely, patrolled beach without many of the knobs of Bondi. It has a great Banh Mi joint a couple of minutes from the beach, it has the Pavilion for a quintessential Sydney lunch as well... More

I really enjoy Coogee Beach, it's usually a little less crowded than Bondi and still has some awesome views!

We got the bus from Town Hall to Coogee Beach and on arrival were very impressed with this coastal resort. We took the cliff top walk for Bondi and it was well worth the effort

We spent here a few hours. The sand is fine but Bondi Beach was more clean. Also the current was quite strong. Nontheless it was a nice place to spent a Monday afternoon. The water temperature was okay and there are enough places to eat or do your own barbeque.

We walked from Bondi Beach to Coogee and it took about 2 hours at a gentle pace, stopping here and there. Caught a bus from the centre of Sydney. Cost about $4.50 each single.

Staying in Coogee

Neighbourhood Profile
Very accessible by public transport, Coogee is the smaller, friendlier, more intimate version of Bondi Beach. Coogee is the only beach in the Eastern suburbs that does not have big waves, making it an excellent family beach. The Coogee Bay Hotel, located right across the beach, has one of the biggest beer gardens in Australia and plenty of entertainment every night of the week. Be on the lookout for celebrity footballers! A little further south is Wylie’s Baths, offering sweeping 180 degree views over the Pacific Ocean, and it is perfect for a swim or a few laps. Plenty of dining choices surround the beach, including the famous fish and chips.
