We have been many times, once we bought sunglasses from Doran’s stall. We live in Adelaide and decided to mail the sunnies back so that he could have them polarised.
Doran has not returned them to us and won’t answer his phone.
Whenever we visit Sydney we confront him and he says that he will remedy the situation.
Of course he doesn’t and still won’t answer his phone or messages.
Disgraceful!!!

Paddington Market is ist he gorgeous suburb of paddington with lots of cafes, restaurants and little shops. Do not mix up Paddy‘s Markets which is in Darling Harbour.
At Paddington Markets you get local graft from unusual jewelry, handmade cloths to hand made soap. The market was huge 10 years ago and is now much smaller which was a bit disappointing for me, but it is still worth a visit to find some unique gifts or souvenirs.

Key word is small market. I went to the Rocks market and to be honest it felt quite similar. It took me half an hour bus ride to get here as compared to the Rocks market. If you want to visit a weekend market and don’t have much time to spend travelling and stay at in the Sydney CBD I think you can skip this.

Wife and I came here and she loved the local vendors and their products. She bought an expensive leather bag, jewelry and other things while I sat and waited. This is not my cup of tea but the wife loved it so it must be pretty good.

As markets go, it was good. It had a varied range of clothes, crafts and food. The coffee was good. We had lunch at Himalayan Cuisine (Nepalese Food). It was tasty and I was allowed to mix and match. I had a chicken skewer (was not satay), samosa (pastry with potato and pea filling), split pea dahl and salad. My wife had a similar mixture. We enjoyed it. I was not happy to find fat attached to the chicken, I am not deducting points because maybe this is how the Nepalese prefer their chicken !!! It is definitely worth a visit, We paid $54 by uber from CBD. On the return trip, we realized that it was not that far and walked back to CDB, instead.

I haven't been for over 15 years. It is not as big as it used to be. Lots of similar stores but you can get a bargain. Well worth a visit. You can then go upstairs for some retail stores, coffee, food etc.

Weekend markets are a popular outing across Sydney. Paddington Markets is one of the very well-established, long-running markets so I was surprised that it was much smaller and quieter than I’d expected.
I think the market has had its ups and downs. The signs claim over 120 stalls but there was nowhere near this many. Perhaps many stall holders have not returned since the pandemic or perhaps a string of rainy weekends had put a lot of them off.
There was a fair mix of stalls. One stand-out was Ratatak Ceramics which had very striking handmade bowls and cups.
We browsed among the fresh fruit and veg, clothing, pottery, antique/bric-a-brac, art, jewellery, plants and flowers. Apart from clothing, there was mostly only one of each kind of stall which meant that it didn’t take long to cover the entire market.
There were quite a lot of gaps too.
I spotted a vinyl records stall but sadly, no book stall. Normally I’d expect to see a range of candles and soaps but they were missing. Nor was there anything much to interest kids, other than food and a playground.
Hot food and takeaway stalls were clustered in one central area. Although we were there between 2 - 2:30pm, there wasn’t a lot of choice (Italian, Turkish, Asian and gozleme stalls).
Overall, it was disappointingly small and there are many other bigger, more varied markets around Sydney. If you want to explore the Sydney market scene, I’d try elsewhere.
NOTE: A highlight was walking 5 minutes further down Oxford St and visiting the Paddington Reservoir Gardens, a surprising little park which has been created around the old 19th century reservoir ruins (see separate review).

It’s not a big market; it’s more like a neighbourhood market turns to tourist attraction. Most of the stalls are local produce, local designers’ crafts, and a few food & drinks booth for morning breakfast

If you want to experience, we can market, you might want to go to more than once to feel the differences of different markets

This market claims to be Australian made, yet lots of goods are not. It is located in one of Sydney's most expensive and exclusive area's, so the goods sold are presented well, and might have fancy packaging, but lots (although not all) can be found in other markets that are not as famous for far less. Lots of the goods are manufactured in china and then presented as "Australian design". Dont be fooled, you can find similar or the same elsewhere for far less

(I should know, my friend previously sold chinese sunglasses at this market for twice the price you can get them at other markets).

Your special purchase probably isnt as unique or special as they would lead you to believe.

For better value try Paddy's Markets (Haymarket or Flemington) or the Bondi Beach Community night market. Neither are trendy, both are cheaper.
