I only rate the Blu Bar on 36 average because I actually think it needs a bit of an overhaul inside. The views are probably the best in Sydney and the cocktails were gorgeous but the seats with the views were on a waitlist with the concierge on the front desk of the bar. If you want to sit there... The bar here is all about the views, which are indeed pretty fabulous but WOW you pay for it! The drinks prices are as high as the building and waiting 15 minutes to be served at the bar does not make you feel like it is the special treat you are hoping for. Spending all the time trying to catch... More

Blu Barbnot only has some excellent cocktails but the views are absolutely stunning. The best time to visit is at sunset so you can watch the day change into night

We got to the Hotel early as we wanted a table near the window so had to wait until they opened the lift to go up to the 36th floor. The view was superb and the Italian girl who looked after us was fantastic she knew all the cocktails listed and what was in each one with out having to... More

Sure the views were nice enough but late in the afternoon, which is when the bar opens, it can get quite warm on the western side and rather crowded for such a small bar area. The service was only ordinary which sums up the overall experience...

The bar is on floor 36 of the Shangri La hotel and provides great views over Sydney harbour and the city. The bar opened at 5pm and you need to get there at 5 to be sure to get a table by the window - although I noticed that if you have a word with the hostesses they will put... More

Went to the 36th floor bar for a drink and to experience the great view prior to dining elsewhere. Party of 5, arrived about 5.30 pm on a Thursday night. A busy time. The hostess was pleasant and helpful, and organised seating when it became available. A great panorama of Sydney. Drinks a little expensive, but that's the price to enjoy... More

My parents were in town and went ere for drinks on their last night. The views don't get much better, service was friendly and the drinks are in the same price range as any decent cocktail bar.

Made two trips to this bar to try and catch what can only be described as the best view over Sydney. Firstly arrived on a Saturday night expecting a wait for a table with a view but after an hour and getting no closer to the top of the list decided to call it a night. Went back early evening... Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
